Nice invention, Hepstar! If you could get access to posters’ original and real scores and their subsequent acceptances at a variety of schools, you could test and refine it. I trust you’ll be majoring in Stats, huh?

Hmm… very close to real score.

Cute!

Kinda interesting, what made you come up with this little system?

Actual- 1660
“Real”- 1710

official-2070
real-2070

Actual - 1980
“Real” - 2160 - (I wish)

Official - 2140
“Real” - based on your revised system in post #60 - 2010

Start with 2140.
Add 1950 for class ranking (top 10%, but just barely!)
Add 900 for decent EC’s.
Add 520 for very good essays and recs.
Add 520 for a very tough courseload.
Total is 6030.
Divide by 3 to get the “real” SAT score which comes out to 2010.

Based on my situation (I’m homeschooled, and class rank is always inflated among homeschoolers), I think that my official SAT score is more reflective of my abilities. I like the dedication, though, Hepstar!

Official - 2370
“Real” (w/ class rank) - 2390 (yay!)
“Real” 2 (my school uses deciles) - 2223 (:-o)

Haha… lovely. But is SAT really that important in college admissions (33%?) I would weigh ECs a little more…

Thanks for the comments. I guess the changes in the class rank part are helping out.

Now to answer a couple of questions posted earlier:

“I trust you’ll be majoring in Stats, huh?”

Nope. I’m actually majoring in Accounting, which also involves number crunching. So you were on the right rack I guess. However, things could always change.

“Kinda interesting, what made you come up with this little system?”

I got the idea from something called “Real Age,” which takes your diet, exercise, and health history into account to give you your “real” age, which can be compared to your calendar age. I figured, “why not do the same for SAT?” I tried as best I could to quantify the unquantifiable. So to know how good your “real” SAT score is, the general rule is that a “Real” SAT score greater than your actual SAT is good.

“Haha… lovely. But is SAT really that important in college admissions (33%?) I would weigh ECs a little more…”

The SAT is pretty important IMO. This is always what I thought was the order of importance in college admissions:

1.) GPA
2.) SAT
3.) ECs and Awards
4.) Recs, Essay, and difficulty of courseload

I distributed points to fit this order, except for the fact that GPA and SAT got the same amount. I set it up so the result always falls within the 600-2400 SAT range.

Nice job on the 2390 “Real” score. I believe that’s the highest so far.

I didn’t need ECs to get into Berkeley. Top school means class rank tumbles. Oh, well.

man however you got this equation it’s pretty precise good job

inner city 1680 rocks lol
real, 2020 awesome hahahha

this rank reminds me of how the admission office at yales work, i think it was 2/3 of the points relied on the class rank/gpa, than the other 3rd was on the sats… out of 240… true story, football coaches from yale told me, keep in mind, this process was just to get looked at academically and athletically, 210 was the minimum for an athlete i believe

Why can’t that be my SAT score?
