I successfully negotiated more merit for my son just recently. You can find my original post in the Syracuse University threads. I decided to do it myself because I knew my son would not want to do it and if he did, he would not articulate his case successfully. It was surprisingly easy. I sent a blind email to both the Financial Aid and Admissions offices using an offer from another school as leverage. It was actually the Financial Aid office that responded to me and they gave him an additional $2500 a year, which nearly matched the other offer.
