We have a 279 dollar Samsung. Smart TV. Bought about two years ago. We watch Netflix and Amazon on it with no trouble at all, could also do Hulu etc if we wanted to. Can also plug a laptop in and watch that way; my S often does that when he comes over to watch movies with us.
I guess I’m not an expert, but the picture’s fine, the apps couldn’t be easier. and I’m cheap.
32 inch is “tiny” these days. Depending on the size of your room you might want to up your size a bit - to at least 40 inches - even in a moderate sized room. It’s really not that big and I think you’ll appreciate the little bigger screen. I’m not a fan of the enormous screens - even in enormous rooms - screams TVVVVVVVVVVVVV to me! But 32 is quite small unless that’s really what you’re looking for.
Thank you everyone – so much good information! Good idea abasket about the size might be too small. And good points from many people about pros and cons of having apps in the TV and the sound bars. I’m still reading through all the comments – I really appreciate all these insights.
I am definitely the “I want that one” person haha thumper1!
I disagree with @abasket. This past summer our 15 yr old 27" , $79 no-name, Black Friday special up in the bedroom finally died. We bought a 40 inch TV, and promptly took it back because it was too big. I literally got nausea watching a screen that big. We ended up getting a 32in SmartTV for $129 and I am pleased. DH had a fun time connecting the DVD player to it because there are now 6 component cables to connect, the old TV only used 2 or 3 of them.
^^^ As mentioned in my post, “depending on the size of your room” - and I’ll add, distance from viewing spot to the screen. Perhaps in a smallish bedroom or a screen that is close to the bed, a smaller screen is desirable.
@3puppies , sometimes it takes justt a bit to grow accustomed to a larger screen. We bought our first big screen TV in 1992. It was a 45” (they were square, so much bigger screen than a 45” today). It was replacing a 19” in our family room.
When we first had it, it made me dizzy and it was hard to watch the screen. I told DH I think we made a mistake, should have gone with the 35”.
In no time, I became used to it and loved it, would have had a larger if I could.
When we went from 32" to 50" in the family room, I literally tried pushing my body through the back of the couch because the screen seemed too large for me. I felt like actors on the screen had invaded my space. In a couple of days, I adjusted.
