When do audition dates and times go online?

I’m willing to answer some basic questions but if you are truly wanting to do this, you really really really need to research some of these things much more. Many of the questions you are asking are the sorts that can be easily looked up. What CC is good for in particular, are the questions that are either harder to find in writing/online or for opinions/sharing.

No, at NYU, you do not have to have an application filed to line up an audition. The RD apps are due Jan. 1. You may start lining up your audition starting on Nov. 1. Auditions in NYC take place during late Jan. and most of Feb.

There is ONE audition for all of Tisch. If you wish to be considered for CAP1, then you must sing, in addition to the monologues. You can stipulate your first and second choice studio and give reasons for your choices. Sometimes, if they like your talent but do not have room in CAP21 or feel that CAP21 is not the best choice studio for you, they may consider you for one of the acting studios. If you don’t wish to be considered for any acting studios, you can stipulate that you only want to be considered for CAP21. That does not increase your odds of getting into CAP21 but merely means that if you don’t get into CAP21, you would then be rejected in sum. There are no dance auditions to get in. There are dance placement auditions on the first day of CAP21 studio each year of the program and many levels of each dance discipline offered per year/grade. To get into Tisch, 50% of the decision is based on artistic review and 50% on “academic” review by the admissions office. NYU is a selective school academically.

No BFA schools are safety schools. No audition based schools are safety schools.

In NYC, there are BFA and BA programs by audition at Marymount Manhattan and BFA programs at Pace and a BA by audition program at Wagner. None are safeties. Pace is easier to get into than NYU/Tisch both academically and artistically (talent pool overall). If you want to major in MT, I would not pick schools simply because they are in NYC!!

BAs near NYC…Muhlenberg, Manhattanville.
BFA near NYU…Montclair State

You can read about Wagner as we have a subforum right here on the MT Forum for that school.
