I’m not sure. Originally, I thought everyone who bothered to write the essay probably got one. But then we found out that one of my daughter’s friends was turned down for it. She’s graduating with a better-than 4.0 GPA and is one of the brightest people I’ve ever met. So, Wooster’s not always 100% on target when it comes to College Scholar Awards.

As far as I could tell, nothing really special happened with College Scholars. It’s just a lovely thing to put on your resume for grad school. … In reference to your question on matriculation–my daughter and two of her friends are College Scholars. They’re both graduating this May. Anyone motivated enough to write that extra essay during the stressful college application process is probably motivated enough to stay the course and endure to the end, even through Wooster’s intimidating, but extremely rewarding Independent Study project. :)
