When do your high school kids get their finalized courses for the next year?

Large urban public. List preferences in April. Get schedule during registration which is the week before school starts. Problems are inevitable and sometimes cannot be straightened out until just before the first marking period. DD found out a couple of weeks into the school year that she was accepted into an internship which meant she had to miss the last two periods twice a week. She didn’t want those classes to be ones where she really needed to be present for discussions and the like. GC’s mind cannot handle schedule issues. Before the initial registration, he called to say she had no schedule, so she worked it out for him. Second time around, she did as well, then discovered he failed to push the Enter button on his computer so did that for him, too. I am not looking forward to this August, but at least we know going in that she has the second year of the internship. As student body president, I think she is also required to take the leadership class, but that wasn’t on the spring sign-up so I am close to certain that her schedule will be messed up again. Her mentor friend, one of the VPs and a bright guy, is leaving the state so he won’t be around to suggest solutions and work-arounds. Ah, challenges!

My d only got the paperwork the last full week of school, turned it in, got it returned with some additional paperwork she needed signed for honors classes and turned it in the last day of school. I think she fell through the cracks because her homeroom is the same as her first block class and she was in a class with a bunch of seniors and juniors so when they were distributing paperwork to the sophomores, they missed her. She will find out her schedule on the first day of school. If it’s like this past year, she will then have to go to the gc and ask them to change some useless elective to another math class.
