I know for Vanderbilt at least, and probably a number of other schools, they put your whole application into a data base. So, theoretically, abch123 may be onto something in regard to checking essays; it wouldn’t be hard to do…

So in that case, I really wouldn’t reccomend that. But also as abch123 said, you could probably get away with making up awards/activities, but they would have to be mildly impressive at best. For example, saying you’re president of NHS while quite impressive, at least on paper, so saying so would certainly pique more inquiry than say, secretary of Robotics Club.

The issue is a bit more open-ended though, since UCs can’t check your stats against your reccomendations, since there are none.

So basically, I would only do and form of “making up” or “borrowing” if you absoluteley felt the need for whatever reason; it’s risky in any case, and based on your situation, may be morally reprehensible.

In regard to your original inquiry, I believe the filing period is 11/1/11/30, but you can view/start filling up from 10/1.
