I hate math, with a few exceptions (like geometry and some trig.) I would be utterly unimpressed with someone who tried to “convince” me to like math, like some freaky math evangelical. But if someone said, “Hey, I’m pretty good at [subject], let me know if you want to form a study group,” I would be grateful to them for trying to help and might take them up on it. However, even if I started doing better in that subject, that doesn’t mean I would love it. I’ve done well in some subjects I was bored by or just plain loathed. ;)

OP, you seem like a really nice guy who thinks about others, and that’s great. Keep on encouraging your friends, but don’t get too hung up on whether they’re doing the absolute extreme utter best they can do. Maybe they’re okay with Bs or Cs if it means they don’t have to think about what they view as a crappy subject any more than they have to.

There’s nothing wrong with you finding that kind of subject easy while others loathe it. The important thing is to sympathize with them to a degree and encourage them. hell even offer to help them. sometimes its not academic more so they lack the confidence after they failed some test or homework or they didnt do as well as everyone else in something and as a result, overgeneralize and hate the subject. just as long as you dont think you are above them (which no one is above anyone regardless of academic or social performace), you will be able to just be there for them. even offer to help them out with studying or give them little tricks to remember certain things that you know. its all about being humble and not gloating
