Right, when nearly everyone with a sniffle or food poisoning calls it flu. I tell my people flu is when you think you are dying, and food poisoning that is called flu (stomach or not) is just incomprehensible to me. That Is an American thing, right?
I am a witness to how bad the flu is this year, my friends Mom was a healthy 55 year old who was admitted to the hospital 2 weeks ago with the flu, she was intubated fairly quickly but unfortunately has not woken back up, they did a CT yesterday and at some point recently she had an hypoxic event. The family now have to decide difficult end of life decisions. So very sad over the flu.
