Where are my Chicagoans??

Per earlier input, rental prices are too high and/or houses too small for OP in La Grange and Western Springs. They were suggested previously in this thread. No schools needed so not an issue.

@Mater yes hubby is willing to spend up to an hour in the car because of all the places I said I never wanted to live, Chicago was one of them. As a result he is giving me full control of housing as he wants me to be happy. Don’t get me wrong I love visiting Chicago but I always said I never wanted to live any place that’s colder and more snowy than where we already live!

@beebee3 @Marilyn I live in an upper income republican area now so I am used to it. I am just glad I don’t have the school issues to deal with. If money wasn’t an issue I would probably be in downtown Naperville as absolutely love it.

Downtown Hinsdale is absolutely charming. It is a pricey suburb, however.

I found a really nice place in Brookfield , which seems to give me the both of the best worlds. Any thoughts???

I went to the zoo there years ago. :slight_smile: I have cousins who live in that general area, and they all like it. The only bummer about the Chicago suburbs, IMO, is that no one ever seems to go into town.

^ Not that different than DC suburbs. You just have to make the effort.

@partyof5

Northsider here. Brookfield? I’ve only been to the zoo, many many enjoyable times, but I’m not familiar with the area.

Brookfield is perfectly decent and next to La Grange with all of its restaurants. You’d probably want to keep away from the higher trafficked areas. It’s less upscale and more traditional than the suburbs immediately to its west. A bit of a commute to Lombard for DH though - I’d probably just take 31st street across as far as possible then head up Highland depending on where in Lombard the job is.
