I should think your opinion is just about as valid, and you feel free to share your thoughts - possibly even under a variety of different…methods. Why such angst? The presence or absence of high school valedictorians neither breaks nor makes UF.

My frustration is not with differing opinions. The problem is you often quote opinions as sources then berate sources that actually have credentials, such as US News Rankings.

Any angst from me is annoyance from you pushing your own Nole agenda rather than helping people.

Ah, helping people. Perhaps I could follow your lead, then?

Since I actually have been through the process, first as a student now as a parent, with one kid married and now in med school and the other poised for grad school does that sort of mileage tend to increase the value of my perspective? That you don’t always agree makes it no less accurate.

At least I am not constantly on the FSU board trying to recruit students. The same could not be said about you and the UF board.

LOL

Let’s see - the original article discusses where valedictorians will attend college. Correct. What is that supposed to indicate? That the valedictorian will become somewhat accomplished and contribute to the success and reputation of the school they’ll attend. You occasionally have to look at the big picture and avoid the nit-picky details, Intangible Gator.

I present valid options to students who often incorrectly assume UF has a monopoly on quality and have such erroneous assumptions reinforced by others who are mere fans and wannabees. I don’t think you’ll see me suggest a student go to FSU for engineering if UF is available to them…unless they want to attend Florida State. Likewise, I shan’t advise a political science major, for example, looking for the best program to pass up FSU simply because UF has Tim Tebow on the football team.

I may suggest they try for MIT since their beaver mascot has a costume that smells good, however. :D

because people applying to UF dont know anything about FSU?

I think it helps to hear from an actual graduate. :)

Since you brought it up, yes, I was surrounded by numerous aromatic beaver Val & Sal classmates. I think it is a significant metric of student quality, if not olfactory pleasure.

I have also heard it said that students form S/E Fla have issues driving all the way to Tally.
This may or may not contribute to some of those numbers.
An YES some people do pick their schools based on driving distances.

^Good catch. That is indeed correct.

lol, rogracer.

^ you feeling better now p2n?? :)

Just fine.

Spent the day yesterday driving to and from Tallahassee (not easy) and moving kids furniture and buying them food. In return I received hugs, smooches and a total crushing at the hands of my MD-in-training, who decided it was time to correct and enhance my knowledge of human anatomy. (ouch ;))

I’m going to avoid her during her training in psychiatry. :)

hahaha. She’s married though right? You can redirect her psychiatry training to the new husband! :D
