is San Nic the same as Santa Cruz and Anacapa where it is co-ed but still separated by different wings? Which dorms are mixed up and co-ed within the same halls.

San Nic is the most co-ed of the dorms in the Channel Islands 5. In Santa Cruz, Anacapa, and Santa Rosa, technically there are guys and girls on the same floor, as there are only two floors, and the wings are much more spread out and farther apart than the ones in San Nic. In San Nic, one RA has both guys and girls-this is not usually the case in most of the other dorms. This means that there will be 25 guys and 25 girls to a group, instead of 50 guys, then 50 girls, etc.

San Miguel has only guys or girls on each floor, but an RA has 2 floors, so they are sort of “grouped,” i.e. 1st and 2nd floor together, etc. I’ve definitely enjoyed going to dinner with a diverse group of people, guys and girls, because of the co-ed floors. Sadly, UCSB is one of the least integrated gender-wise.

Just in case I didn’t quite explain how San Nic works, the girls are technically on a different wing, but the difference between the wings is only a 90° angle, rather than the huge sprawling wings that separate different areas in Anacapa, Santa Cruz, and Da Rosa.
