Tutoring and babysitting can be great, flexible ways to earn money for college. Our high school has a notebook in the guidance office where tutors can list their expertise and contact information. Also, some parents post babysitting job ads in various college departments (often education, child development, psych, etc). Check these departments and see if some one knows where to look. Many local colleges have day care centers. You can call around and see if they allow postings for child care. They may also have bulletin boards where parents post ads. It is a good idea to bring reference letters from previous jobs/experiences you’ve had that relate to these areas or at least have permission from any previous employers for people to call them for references. Soon you will have satisfied people referring more people to you, but you will need to establish a bit of a track record and references are helpful. College professors also advertise for students to help with child care: these jobs may be posted in a specific way at your college.
