<p>This is a SEVEN year old thread. There was a recent thread about this very topic. You might be better served to search for that one. The student needs to first find out the requirements for state income taxes, and determine IF they have to file. The skinny is…the student files in their parents’ home state as a resident for Federal income taxes and state income taxes…and they file in the college state if it’s another state…as a non-resident.</p>
