Where do you have the most success with YOUR clothes shopping?

Just yesterday bought 2 Anne Klein pants suits at Marshall’s (under $150 for BOTH) on my lunch hour. What’s more they both fit perfectly (I’m wearing one today). I’ve never bought clothes there before, but I’ll certainly check them out in the future.

I had 15 minutes to kill yesterday and stopped at the local mall. It was like a ghost town. William Sonoma has several customers but everywhere else was empty. I did not see much on sale. My big purchase was a citrus reamer. I have been wanting one. Used it last night and it works great. I saw one top at J Jill that I thought was cute. Checked the price $149 of course I would pick out the most expensive item in the store.
We have a Ross in town but I find the selection pretty slim. It isn’t huge and I find it is not a store to go to if I need something specific. I tend to pop in if I am in the shopping center for something else. Sometimes I get lucky but not often. Swimsuits are the one area they are decently stocked. My D often finds suits she likes. I have found for my H they are sometimes the best place to find him nice board style swim shorts. When they have them they always seem to have quite a few in his size(28) but I have yet to find my son a pair in size 31. Name brands like quicksilver, Oneil, Lost. He plays beach volleyball so goes through quite a few pairs in the year.
Last week Gap had men’s boxers for 3.99.

Your H’s waist size is 28?? My goodness.

I think my H’s waist size is – ummmm – maybe 38?

LOL, mom60, you need to feed your H some serious steak dinners! Mine is size 34 and growing. :)

My DH wears a 28 or 30 with a 35" inseam…not fun to find. But frequently on sale if found. Try Nordstrom’s Rack. And yes, I feed him. As I told one of my older relatives, he came that way, there is nothing I can do about it!

This is sort of clothes-related…anyone know a good place to get a leather ‘bag’ for work? I’m thinking – not a briefcase, and maybe not even a lap top holder (although ideally it could be used for that, later). Just something that’s not a purse that I can carry to work (maybe it is a lap top holder).

Right now I’m carrying papers, water bottle and lunch in a canvas bag I picked up at a yard sale. lol. This is a temp job, but still, I should look more pulled together.

If anyone had an idea, would appreciate! Tried TJ Maxx, Target (see, I’m going low-end) but all they had were big purses or rolling suitcases!!!

Btw, Target has fitted tank tops (nice for under suits) for $5.99.

Jolynne if you find something let me know! My bag needs to hold a 8.5x11 pad of paper, a flashlight, two tape measures and a small camera, holding my small purse or the stuff that is in it would be good too. I’m using a canvas bag that advertises some company that sells stuff to dh’s lab.

The bag I got in the luggage department of JC Penney’s about a month ago for a STEAL would have been perfect. Looked purse-ish, but had a pouch for a laptop and lots of storage pockets.

I’ll check jcp online and see if it happens to be online…

I gave up on finding a nice bag that would hold my stack of papers/patents and lunch bag, and I’m using a backpack. It was quite an upgrade from the things I used in the past (Nordstrom Rack plastic bag, canvas grocery tote). So if you visit Seattle and see a lady in high heels and a long cashmere coat with an ugly backpack on her back running through the downtown intersections like a bat out of h*ll trying to catch the bus, that’s me ;)!

Bag makers, I see we have a market opportunity here!

Well, this is not it, but it could work, it’s very cute and a good price:

VeryHappy- Believe me I am annoyed at the 28 inch waist. Same size he was when I met him. My waist is not anywhere close to what it was when I met him. It is very hard to find clothes to fit him. I do feed him but he is pretty healthy and watches what he eats.

My S is a 27-28" waist. H was about that when we met over 20 years ago but has now grown to an even 30x30 pants (significantly easier to shop for than S but getting harder with everything at stores including Costco getting “supersized”). I really feel for those who have men in their lives with small waists and long legs–even more challenging.

HIMom, heads up - our Nordstrom Rack had Chantelle “Light” bras on sale, 50% off of the already “racked” prices. They are underwire, but have a really comfortable fit (at least on me), and are made with some thin molded polymeric material so nothing, ahem, shines through. I bought 3  (hey, they were $15 apiece) and I’m all set for the summer t-shirt season.

Wow–thanks for the tip. I may make it over there & see if they have my size. I have not had much luck at their store in HI, but maybe I’ll get lucky!

Here’s a link to great bags. The leather bags are more expensive than the fabric, but pebble leather, very soft. Each bag comes in 2 sizes–to hold just papers, or papers and laptop. Owner is local, quite a nice man.

Wow, the handle on that croco bag is huge… I thought I could carry a heavy binder in a ‘tote’ I got somewhere but short as I am, the bag actually drags on the floor given the long tote handle.

Still searching for a simple jacket…

For a bag, try looking in the backpack area for a messenger style bag. I carry my life in mine…actual I carry everything work related in one and I have a separate one for the Girl Scout cookie sale–the cookie bag goes everywhere I go this time of year. All info for my troop, the 34 troops I oversee, and the Council wide stuff I do. It’s a lot of stuff. The black one for business I got at Target, the Cookie bag is from Girl Scouts.
Both bags have outisde water bottle holders. One accident is all it takes to make you want an outside the bag water holder…

HiMom-my H was a 30X30 for a brief few years. It was much easier. Luckily my H only wears pants a few times a year. He has 1 nice suit bought from a speciality store over the phone. Fit perfect. 2 pairs of Khakis and 1 pair of nice gray slacks. Several pairs of Levi’s original 501 shrink to fit. Otherwise he wears the same basic thing every single day. Quicksilver lightweight microfiber shorts in a few colors-(I buy them once a year at the Nordstrom anniversary sale-have to do it online since the stores don’t ever have the 28 or 29), collared polo from Old Navy (also bought in bulk when on sale). Weekends older pairs of same shorts and basic not to flashy t shirt. Socks from costco. He is totally boring. He never goes shopping and has no desire to try anything new. He does not understand why women and his Daughter’s always seem to “need” to go shopping.

Well, I had to stop here and consider alternatives. Skirts? Dresses? Bathing suits? Naked?

Oh – now I see!!

Got it!!

VeryHappy- He would not “get” a 20 page thread on clothing shopping!
