I just picked up few peices from D’ garbage clothes (many huge bags) and taking the rest to Salvation army. Boy, clothes is so comfy, do not need to break in, all worn, washed several times. Wearing my “new” skirt to office. Few tops, jeans, even vacation dress. She said it was very old, but I love the feel and look of “old” clothes and still very much in style.
…and I love Costco. We shop there for specialty food all the time, spending well over hundred on few expensive food items. I also love Kirkland ice cream, despite the fact that vanila is not my favorite, but Kirkland vanila (the only flavor) si heavenly. I buy swim suits there all the time. I love Speedo, they are reasonably comfy for swimming laps and reasonably lack any kind of crazy padding and other strange swimming suits atachments. They are also reasonably priced. I use them only on vacation. Use very old suits for my swimming, have bags of them from my D’s swimming years. I have so many jeans from my D., I do not think I will ever need to buy them. All fit perfectly, various styles, so will fit any current fashion.

lol miamidap, I was shopping my D2’s discards, but as she is taller & thinner than I, not alot fit me. Jeans that are too small for her, I would never try wearing  & tops that look ok on someone that is small busted, are a little TMI, on me.

Which left me with some of her tank tops that I wear underneath other tees to cover the gap that some of those low riding jeans leave.

I agree with the frustration of everything being sleeveless. First. brr. But my arms have never been my best feature but I also don’t want to have to wear a sweater with something. For a while they were selling wrap dresses which seem to be flattering on everyone, but I don’t really need dresses.

Have been noticing more young women wearing long dresses, but to me it looks funny, like they are wearing their cruisewear.

Many compliments for my “new” skirt (from D’s discards which is about 5 years old).

Do not discard sleeveless - the best for gym or any dry land exercise. I found the best ones at Dollar General, very soft cotton.

Shop? The coop has a great free box, and then there is FreeCycle. For a treat, try Value Village. (P.S. Anyone who wants “stuff” is welcome to come to my house and take some.)

“It is so much easier to be short and fat than tall and even a bit overweight.”

Found this to be true. I’m 46 and 5’9". Seems like plus clothes all assume you’re short with a big stomach. I carry weight in the hips-but I do have a waist.

I like Kohls. I wear an 11 shoe though so I’m screwed there

No loss there. Recently their shoes have gotten so ugly! I used to get shoes at Kohl’s all the time. Not any more.

Went shopping today. Why do summer clothes only last one summer, sometimes two. Anyways, I am short and have to wear petites even in shorts and it looks better if I wear petite t shirts also.

Bought some Jones New York shorts at Macy’s and some shorts at Talbots. All of Talbots regular priced stuff was 30% off so their shorts were cheaper than Macy’s. Also got two t shirts at TJMaxx. I bought a Lauren by Ralph Lauren tshirt and it seems nice. Hope it washes up well.

I bought some stuff at J Jill on clearance this spring. Nice stuff and it washes well. Comes in Petites so it’s ok. I love work out clothes from Lucy and I like the brand Lole. I have some of my Lole stuff that is two years old and still looks new.

I am with everyone about the sleeveless shirts. I am also really pale and get the strangest tan lines. I stay out of the sun and wear sunscreen but still get these tan lines. I have a SIL who is darker skinned and works out all the time. Can’t even compete and so I’ll stay out of that race. :)

I love Lucy (pun intended) and Lululemon and also the Lole brand!

"Why do summer clothes only last one summer, sometimes two. "

-Mine lasts…I do not count years, some of them might be older than my D. who is 21. Some of them came from her discarded bag. The only thing that does not last is a swimsuit - because after swimming for 1 - 1.5hrs in chlorine, suit is gone. But again, it was the old one to begin with. When they are gone, you can wear 2 of them together, competitive swimmers do it during practice. I am blessed with huge bag of very old swim suits from my D’s swimming years. I buy few new ones to go on vacation.

My office is “business casual”. Almost everything I buy is from LOFT, Macy’s or Gap.

My summer clothes seem to last forever. I wash everything on Delicate cycle and I hang dry anything that is apt to shrink. Somehow they never wear out.

Today, while trying to find something to wear for work I asked myself “why does everything make me look fat?” the answer was “because I am!”.

Anyone else interested in a daily check in weight loss thread? I’ve tried the one that’s going but there is too much emphasis on detailed accounts of work out sessions.

^there are many “obsessed” people on “weight loss thread”. I have tried to calm them down, did not work. That thread is way too much for me. I have been doing the same routines for about 30 years, adding time over time. I exercise for 1.5 - 2 hrs every day. I cannot follow the latest trends, I want to stick to what I enjoy doing, not what is working for others. My weight is going up and down within sizes of my clothes though. Weight has nothing to do with exercise in my case. I love sweets, I will not give them up. So, when I have too much or go on all inclusive vacation, my weight goes up. I do not care too much any more, after about 55 I stopped being obsessed with it. Now I am free chocolate eater!

I used to shop mostly at Kohl’s petite, but a few years ago a new shopping center moved near me so now I go to Coldwater Creek and LL Bean. I also buy some separates, like tank tops/camisoles at Chico’s. Occasionally, I will buy something at Lands End on-line, knowing that I can return it at Sears. I’ve found that most Dockers petite pants and capris fit me well and Kohl’s usually has them on sale, if not, then I’ll wait until they go on sale. CC always has sales. I bought some stuff from them on-line a few weeks ago using a groupon but most of the items didn’t fit or I didn’t like them. Today, I’ll go to the store, return them and then shop their 50% off sale!

Strangely enough, I often find separates at Costco too. I have a couple of long sweaters that I got there that I always get compliments on when I wear them.

I agree about sleeveless dresses, but what I tend to do is wear a very light short sleeve sweater with them or a pretty shawl. I bought a sweater similar to this one [Summer weight cardigan | Coldwater Creek](http://www.coldwatercreek.com/product-detail/47788/53930/summer-weight-cardigan.aspx?colorid=048&refLink=search.aspx&Skn=outlet) last year in white and I’ve worn it a lot.

My latest age-related fashion dilemma is related to the capri length leggings that have become so popular. I think this is a cute look under a tunic or short dress, but I wonder, I am too old to carry this off (54 next month)?

I also love Eileen Fisher, though buying more than a couple of items can get expensive. Some of the pieces I find a bit frumpy, but I have some other pieces I love and mix then up with more fitted things.

Banana Republic, Loft and Limited if they fit. Was in J. Crew the other day with my daughter and feel that all of the clothes out that I’m seeing are so drab and dreary!

A mix of Ann Taylor, J. Crew, Banana Republic, and sometimes Brooks Brothers. Stopped shopping at Talbots and Gap. Talbots – nothing fit (they don’t make a lot of small sizes); also felt too Mamie Eisenhower. Gap – looks great in the store – falls apart after a few washings.

Ann Taylor loft, Nordstrom, EddieBauer, Gap, Talbots. I hate to dry clean my clothes, very inconvenient. I found some pants from Gap that fit me perfectly and I don’t have to dry clean them. The rest of the stuff, I have to dry clean them.

EPTR (and MiamiDAP)- There is a lot of great information on the exercise and weight loss thread. Maybe you could learn from some of the detailed accounts of workouts. They are easy to skim over, if not. In order to successfully lose weight and KEEP it off, a lifestyle change is required which involves MOVING more. Yes, some of us are obsessed- I am a competitive runner and need more of a workout than paddling around in a pool. Others are equally serious about their fitness routines.

momoschki- I do the capri leggings under shorter dresses, but not for work. I have some really cute running dresses (I don’t run in them, but that’s what they are) that are just a little short for regular wear. They look really cute with the leggings. I’m 58.

I think JCrew has great pants. I got some raspberry colored cropped slacks that are great for work. Tailored but casual.

Momofwildchild: Yes, the leggings under a short dress is what I am thinking of. Work clothes are not an issue for me, since I work from home. Of course, in some ways this is a moot point for this summer, since where I am it is too hot already.

EPTR, I suggest you start a “low-key” diet/exercise thread of your own and stress that it is meant for the “newbie, just want to get my feet wet diet/exercise” type of poster.

The other thread is a great thread and I have participated but can be kind of die-hard and a little intimidating for the novice. :)

I would participate. :)
