Yea, now all we need is for someone to ask if there are any hot girls at Conrell, the current Cornellians to come in and say that there are some but are few and far between, and me to bang my head against the wall.

Ever wonder why UPENN is ranked so high on the US Newsweek Rankings?
Hmm… Well, the guy who published the rankings is a Wharton Grad… go figure.

Cornell ranks number 1 by my personal criteria. . .

Popular opinion will always place HYP, and Stanford, on top, which are great schools and are rightfully at top. I think Cornell is comparable prestige-wise to Columbia and U Penn. I consider Brown to be slightly below prestige-wise.

Dartmouth, being a small college, is nothing like cornell. . .and I have a lot of difficulty placing it among the rest of them. On one hand, by selectivity, it is one of the most selective schools in the country. However, it resembles a LAC, much more closely than a research university. . . .I would therefore consider it’s peer institutions to be schools like Williams.

Cornell, I think, because it has so many alumni from all over the world, has a great reputation globally. . .second only to HYP. But that’s just my impression.

Personally I like Cornell over the other ivies because:

Harvard is great, but the attitude surounding the school is so overexagerated (ex: Dropping the H-Bomb. . .yes, amazing school, but a little out of perspective). I also would hate taking my finals after christmas break, therefore going to Harvard would ruin my holiday season for the next four years. So, wonderful school, just not a fit for me.

I visited Yale, but just didn’t like being in New Haven. Probably just because I grew up in small town. Things just seemed spread out among the city, and I didn’t feel like it was a fit at all.

I really didn’t want the urban setting of Columbia. Campus life is important to me. Though unlike New Haven, I somehow felt totally comfortable with NY. Also, I was looking at engineering or bio programs. Columbia has a policy that makes it impossible to transfer from the engineering school to the college should I want to take bio instead of BME. As with harvard, I got this extremely elitest attitude from university officials and students. I really don’t know how to describe it, but it just didn’t give me warm fuzzy feelings.

I didn’t look into Dartmouth because I was looking for a larger school, and for some reason I didn’t even consider Brown. I might have considered U Penn or Princeton a bit more had I had more time in my college search. . .but I’m extremely happy with cornell, and can’t imagine myself anywhere else.

Sorry for the longwinded response.

Quick Recap.

Cornell among ivies (ranked around 4-6)
Cornell among US Universities (ranked around 9-12)

and the thruth finally comes out
