*I only made a special note for Black Males because I find it rather noteworthy how 3 of the 4 Black Males from my class ended up at Elite, Top 20 Universities.

Bigredfan … because it sets the stage. … in such an area the kids are given and/or handed many opportunities … including SAT prep and beyond … basically a private like public.

There are many discussion on CC about the value of local public vs boarding etc … this plays into that discussion. … at the end of the day …

2 UPenn (Val and Sal)
1 Harvard
1 Dartmouth (athlete)
1 Brown

Ridiculous amount to UF and UF Honors
Less, but still a lot to UCF and FSU

A lot of schools im leaving out (especially LACs, which our school gets a lot of people into). A lot of kids get accepted to Tufts and other high ranking schools but choose UF for a variety of reasons (close to home, price, rooting for the gators, etc.)

I would hardly put Skidmore, Fordham, Cooper Union, Dickinson, Syracuse, Mount Holyoke, Rochester, Bard, and Muhlenberg in “the rest.”

Also, why should we care where your high school class went to school?

And crs1909, why do you find it notable that three black men got into elite schools? We do occasionally come from middle-class families and go to elite private universities, contrary to popular belief.

Juillet, he was just mentioning some demographics. Race aside, one WAS a legacy and one WAS an athletic recruit. Standards are a little lower for those catagories.

Is it just a matter of compiling what you’ve heard?

Or, does the school keep and share an official list? And, if so, I think it’s great. But, in this day and age, I’m surprised people don’t have a hissy fit over privacy issues.

Wow. I feel dumb. This is the class of 2008’s list (for the top ten):
University of Michigan: 2
Michigan State: 5
Brigham Young University: 2
Muskegon Community College: 1
Needless to say, instate in MI. But this is the top of our class, the cream of the crop. Class size of ~300. That’s sad. (What’s even sadder is that I’m not even in the top three of my class, but they’ll be going to the same schools. We’re all broke in our school district. lol)

To the person wondering where the info comes from: I know at my school they publish it in the June issue of the school newspaper, under “Senior Destinations”.
