Does anyone know where to find an on-line calendar of activities/events happening at UMD? We found a few things, but not an overall list of all things going on.

If u have a smartphone, there are a couple of apps…UMD info and UMD mobile. Both have event calendars that show things by category.

or go online to umd.edu, and click on the calendar in the upper right corner. 4-5 things listed for each day. I think your S is a freshman, right? First Look Fair will be on September 15, and all activities/groups on or near campus are represented there…they will be all over McKeldin Mall…absolute best way to meet people, find out what the groups are all about, and sign up to any/all that sound interesting. Hmmm. I’m wondering how many different booths/tents D will be working at…I can think of 6, but I think I’m probably missing some… ;D

Thanks for your replies. The calendar on umd.edu just lists some sports events. I’m trying to find something that lists lectures, activities, etc. all in one place. Maybe it doesn’t exist. We don’t have smart phones, so we can’t try the apps, but they sound promising for others.

If you get a chance, please ask your college students where they find this information while on campus. Thanks.

I just checked umd.edu. If you click on today’s date on the calendar in the upper right hand corner, it displayed these events:

Spiritual Practices of Contemplation

Auditions for the Voice Minor Series

Christian Worship Band Looking for New Members

In addition, there are always notices posted in the dorms, inside Stamp, on poles and sidewalks on campus, in the library, and in the classroom buildings for all kinds of other talks, meetings, etc. D corrected me and said that First Look Fair is during 2 days next week. There will be places to sign up for any/all activities the student may be interested in. They get added to the LISTSERV email lists and will get notifications on their student email regarding activities for those groups.

Go to the My UM account at www.my.umd.edu, then click “Student Services,” then click “Today @ Maryland” on the left under Campus Life. Every day it lists every event on campus and you can toggle to look in the future too. There’s typically at least 25 things listed each day.

Thank you. I originally only checked the umd.edu calendar on Sept. 2nd, and there were only sports listed. I now see that there are a lot more events listed for other dates.
