I’ve been reading about the devastation in Asia and its really killing me, so I wanted to see how I could help.

To Help in the cleanup of the Tsunami that killed At Least 76,000 people on Sunday and to aid the more than 3,000,000 homeless now in desperate need of aid and clean water, please help out one of these organizations.

Way to go oboe. Really guys, this is a good idea. It is the largest natural disaster in 13 years, and will probably surpass a 1991 flood to become the largest in 30 years. As Americans, or those who are considering living in a first-world country, the little that we give can really add up.

(And once again, stupid Yale. Why can’t they see oboe’s wonderful heart)

Everyday the number rises, and everyday my heart sinks a little more…

Good call, Victoria. If you’re interested in volunteering in Thailand, contact me :D

everytime I turn on the televison, I start crying…
thanks for the links, victoria

Its up to like 80,000 now - supposed to get up to 100,000 dead. A bunch of my friends have family in India…I hope they’re ok.

There’s a club at my school (Humanitarian Aid Society…HAS) and each year we have a Culture Fest and we raise around $4000 for a good global cause. I think we’re going to donate to the relief effort this year.

This is so sad. I wish I could go over there and help.

Its the largest natural disaster since a flood in China in 1991, and whent the total accounts come in and are added to disease, it may be the largest in 30 years. Its so sad, like a different type of 9/11 for them, not something that will be forgotten.

Bush, Blair, Chirac, and all the other foreign leaders should have hopped on airplanes and spent the next week over their giving moral support. While the U.S. should give more that $35 million, we must also show our complete support and concern.

It’s sucha sad way to end 2004…

And it really is very upsetting… Why does this always happen to the poor countries
I’ve been watching CNN all day, and the part when they show all the little kids … dead… is so saddddd :(

It’s so weird how Singapore wasn’t affected at all… This island really must be blessed.

We’re starting up something at school to collect donations…

I hear the death toll may be way over 100,000… :(

Singapore wasn’t affected because Indonesia took the brunt of the tidal waves for you (refer to world map). Singapore is situated at a very strategic location. The waves originated in Sumatra, Indonesia, which was where the earthquake took place, and traveled in all directions, hitting Thailand, Myanmar, and several others, the country taking the greatest hit being Sri Lanka (death toll there alone is now well over 10,000).

In Thailand, the media never stops reporting news of the tsunami. Number of deaths is reaching 1,000 and steadily rising as more bodies are found under collapsed buildings and blocked underground plazas. Families are separated, and those who survived are looking in vain for their lost family members, not to mention those who are seriously injured. The hospitals are too small to accommodate all patients. Many more are still trapped under buildings waiting for rescuers; there aren’t enough to go around. Those who survived uninjured are worse than bankrupt; all they’ve got are their clothes.

Oh, I know you have heard enough of this from the news, but I just can’t stop venting. There are donation boxes at every place I go to, and Thais have put all their efforts into helping the unfortunate, but it’s hardly going to be enough.

All help is much appreciated by the needy and all Thai people.

oh man I forgot about Singapore. If they had been hit im sure the city would have taken a *HITLOAD of damage. :(

If Singapore was hit… it woulda been SUCCCCCCCCCHAA disaster.
This city is just FULL of skyscrapers… I don’t know what we would have done.
But yes, Singapore is a very blessed country. It’s location is just somehow perfect…
The waves are blocked… I guess we’re in a nice little enclave protected by land.
…
I reach out to all those young kids that died… and are dying
A girl from my school (graduated last year) is apparantly “missing” in Thailand… And 4 of my friends either just missed the tsunami or were caught in it in Phuket last Sunday…
I’m so scared, when I go back to school on the 3rd, I bet there will be people affected… teachers, students… sigh

sorry to change the subject (!!!), but remember when we were excited about (hopefully) being senior members? aww. I’m a senior. haha it’s not as appealing as before though. haha we have lives now!

I don’t appreciate the last sentence looks at post count
but Congrats =)

aww, I didn’t mean it that way!
