Two our our favorites in Chicago are

Ed Debevics which is located on Wells St, about 1.5 miles from Palmer House (short cab ride) has a 50’s malt shop theme, menu is burgers as well as family meals like meatloaf etc. Fun atmosphere in which the waiters are rude to you and they have singing performances while you eat. Crowd is encouraged to join in.

Second place to go to is Grand Lux Cafe which is on the corner of Michigan Ave and Ontario about 9/10th of a mile from Palmer House. Excellent menu serving sizes are huge and a wide variety of choices. Can be a bit busy at lunch time, but would be great for a evening dinner or if you have a couple hours between auditions. If you go, ask for a table / booth close to windows to view Mich ave. Also has a great breakfast on weekends
