where would u go?

Cornell
Northwestern
Rice
WUSTL
UChicago

Rice is a good school, but the location sucks majorly. WUSTL is overrated and St Louis isn’t that great, Cornell has the reputation of course but its sooo hard to get a good GPA there, that leaves U Chicago and Northwestern … I’m biased of course but NU is more fun and better located.

I thought it’s hard to get a good GPA at chicago also?

yeah that’s true, but I dunno Chicago>>>>>>Ithaca!!!

lol…10char

“Rice is a good school, but the location sucks majorly.”

Have you ever visited Rice? Rice Village is an awesome area, even though I’m biased toward the university.

Houston sucks, sorry I should have specified ^^ I haven’t actually visited Rice, I’m sure the campus is lovely.

I’m quite partial to Houston (since I do live there - although I might be of the minor few of the Houstonians that are partial to Houston, lol), so I don’t think Houston, as a location, sucks quite so much. And plus, like Dorian_Mode said, Rice Village is quite awesome, and so is Rice’s campus.

Personally, I’d rate it

Rice
Cornell
WUSTL/Northwestern/UChicago (mainly because I don’t know much about these three)

All of Houston doesn’t suck. Besides, what about Houston don’t you like?

Yea it’s hot, but for the majority of the year (the non-summer months) the weather is this 60’s - 80’s. Not bad at all. Winters are very mild. The lowest it gets is maybe the 40’s.

uhh, the polution, the crime, the humidity, i could go on … but then, I love winters so Chicago doesn’ bother me at all in that respect.

I would be willing to be though that most people don’t exactly consider Houston to be a “nice” city.

heh this is coming from someone who is living in Dallas atm, and even here people hate Houston!

I would personally be willing to go to all these schools except WUSTL. It would take a major lifestyle change to go to Rice, but I could handle it.

I’m from Chicago and I’m going to Rice. Chicago is great, but I haven’t gone down to Houston yet for more than a day so I guess I will find out how good a town in is. As for crime, though, Chicago is the murder capital of the world. But the thing is, it depends on the area. Obviously, there are slum and ghetto areas where most of the crime happens, and these areas should be avoided. So I wouldnt count crime against Houston; I’ve never witnessed a crime in Chicago, the city notorious for it.

UChicago

Washington

Northwestern
4.Rice

Cornell

Houston-#1 most polluted city in America. Even beats Los Angeles…wow. Nice location.

Ima go ahead and defend Rice for a second

Pollution: every major city has pollution. the Facts of Life in the 21st century

Crime: Rice is in a really old money part of town and kind of seculded in downtown Houston with its on campus police and blue light system that can get the police response in less than 90 secs. anywhere on Rice campus

Humidity: I cannot help you there but after 3 weeks you will be used to it I guess.

AS for location: Yeah its in the South but the campus is really close to the Mueseum District, a really major park across the street, the largest medical facility in the world down the street and Rice Village like 2 blocks away. Also there is the metrorail in Houston which Rice students can use for FREE!!!

I think most people on this forum are just from the North and hate to give the SOuth any respect. If I moved from down here up North I would have a big climate change just like any of you down south.

Visited it and loved it. Applying ID.

Yeah, but it’s quite a feat to be more polluted than LA.

Besides, TX is NOT a part of the south, it’s a part of the bible belt and midwest.

Texas is part of the bible belt and midwest? Bible belt maybe…but Houston definitely doesn’t fit that. And midwest? Right…

marchballer did a good job of explaining it ;)

Northwestern is one of the very few colleges in the country that has it all…near a lively big city but in a peaceful location; superb academics; big-time sports; pretty campus; not too big/not too small. Unless you’re an Ivy fanatic, it would be hard to find a reason not to pick Northwestern above those other universities.

I’d pick Cornell simply because I don’t know jack about the others!

I like how people bash Cornell sometimes even though they haven’t applied or been accepted yet. Maybe the school doesn’t want you ;-)
