Which college is best for me?

How about Carnegie Mellon University?? Has a great program!!! Very diverse community.

And is it international-friendly? Does it offer scholarship/aid to international applicants? Caus it doesn’t specify on their site.

CMU is not as generous as Rice, but it is excellent.

I think I’ll stick with Rice then. =)

BTW, does anyone have a link with rankings of the best engineering colleges globally? Not just US colleges.

check out university of southern california

Again, international students do no qualify for aid there… And here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/financial-aid-scholarships/151609-international-student-aid.html</a>
university of southern california isn’t even listed.

BTW, my dad’s enrolled me in 2 industry level computer certification courses. I’m gonna get loads more work experience now. :-D

UC Berkeley, MIT (def), Carnegie Mellon (if $ is not a prob), UMich, Stanford, Cornell (where I am going :))

Congratulations. :-P

And a pretty lame thread to post your 1000th post.

BTW- what do you mean by def?

Def means definitely. I thought it was a common abbreviation. Sorry for the confusion!

You have a great chance blue_box.I think you should try for MIT and Princeton

Haha. Talk about an old post. Alot has changed since then. My GPA has fallen by .2 points, I quit mensa, and I dropped out of the certification courses. Instead I racked up other ECs which I actually enjoy doing. But still, I appreciate your support. =D

I don’t think your GPA in and of itself is as much of an issue as your class rank. Schools realize that grading systems vary. Your SATs are excellent, and judging by your posts your English is completely fluent and significantly better than that of many internationals who want to come to the US. I think that would probably help you at many top schools that are not “engineering” schools per se.

When you say that you are looking for “engineering” schools, what do you mean by that? Are you interested in civil engineering, chemical engineering, biomedical engineering, or some other engineering specialty, or computer software/hardware programming/design?

You might want to look into Olin in Massachusetts. It is free, if you can get in. Are you looking at the leading technical school in India? (Sorry, I’m blanking on its name…)

Sigh. Sorry Consolation. Missed your post.
My school does not rank. They do, however, send percentiles. I’d probably come in the 75th or 80th percent.
I’m not studying for the IITs. It was either that or the US. And those who are studying for it occupy the top 20 percentile. Annoying people.
I’m planning on studying computer engineering. And a double major with business if the university offers it.

I dont know why some people are saying Berk is a reach for this guy. Hes got a shot at about any college, maybe not the “Ivy” leagues but about 92% of em.

You should apply to
UVA
William and Mary
UNC
Umich
etc

Again, I’d urge you to not chance me based on the information I gave on this thread. Nearly everything has changed. I just read the first post. My school doesn’t offer AP anymore. It’s only offered in like one city in India now. And there’s so much that I haven’t written in the first post. So please don’t judge me based on this thread.
