Which college/University to choose for fall 2025 [Texas A&M, Purdue Indianapolis, Boston University, RPI, ASU, Wisconsin, UCR]

I’m confused on why you’d go to Purdue Indianapolis. That’s like living in Bakersfield and going to Cal State Bakersfield. That’s not a school for people from far away - unless you are interested in Motorsports Engineering - they are one of a few who offers. If you want a school like that, then you should go to UCR because you’re choosing the local school.

A&M and ASU will have the weather - the biggest difference is area (ASU, while not urban, is more so than A&M) and direct admit vs. potentially not getting your major at A&M. College Station is nice though - it’s a huge campus and area and harder to get to.

UCSC never made sense - it’s only ABET accredited in one major and it’s not yours - but UCR makes a ton of sense. It’s ok to eliminate it - but eliminating because of rank in the MECHE world is not really a reason to eliminate. You’ll get the same outcome as you will from the others - yes, even Purdue.

BU (expensive, not better outcomes but if you love the city) and Wisconsin (fine school, but cold) would also be good.

Good luck.

Thank you for the feedback ,make sense and clear some thoughts as well .

ok .It seems like transfer to WL is also not very easy.

There is no guarantee for students to move from Indy to West Lafayette and it’s supposed to be on a space available basis. Mech E is a very popular major and is typically closed to transfer so I would assume that if your daughter chooses Purdue, that she will need to stay in Indy.

Why would you go to a school in hopes of transferring (starting again socially) when you got into equivalent or near equivalent schools?
