Which is a better topic for my personal statement?

The best topic is the one that allows you to be the most personal, detailed, honest and revealing about yourself.

On softball: you only have 150 words, you can only go into one thing in any depth. Your softball achievements won’t be personally revealing, but the leadership idea, or the dad idea, might be.

I don’t think that the 150-word essay has to be the place for showing your passion for softball. Since you are in contact with coaches, you have the opportunity to reveal that side of yourself to someone who might be in a position to help you.

The camp idea also could work; it sounds like you feel the camp idea could be more personal.

In making your choice, imo remember: personal, detailed, honest, revealing.

Regarding the main essay: make sure that the essay is about you, not about the school or schools.
