Community College then transfer somewhere, leaving open a lot of options including places that have articulation agreements with that CC and wild cards such as the various Ivy and Ivy-peer institutions. Best affordable 4-year college or university where you would be happy to finish your degree if the transfer applications don’t work out.
Either strategy can work well. Just remember that neither route guarantees success at transferring into X unless X does guarantee transfer admissions from Y and you decide to begin at Y.
