Which school is better Harvard, Yale, or Stanford?

Nope. But “Dean J” sometimes pipes in on the W&M board. That quote came from their website. I’m a big advocate of kids poring over what the colleges actually say. Then, putting the pieces together.

Wow that is great! I really appreciate the feedback you gave me on my thread. @lookingforward

I consider Stanford the best due to its engineering school.

Thank you for the advice! I am interested in majoring in political science/international affairs @sentimentGX4

I break them down like this:

The three are just about even in terms of academics. To me, you could add Chicago and Princeton to that level.

Yale is the strongest in the Humanities. S and H are a bit stronger than Yale, overall, in STEM areas.

Yale and Harvard’s students are a tad smarter than Stanford’s (higher test scores).

So: the faculty strength/academics are about even among the three. But H and Y have slightly smarter students than S, so I give Harvard and Yale (and Princeton) a slight edge over Stanford (and Columbia, Chicago, MIT, etc.).

Okay thank you for the advice. I am applying to some of those schools through QB but first I have to get my SAT score up and take the ACT/Subject Tests in the fall  @prezbucky
Which books would you recommend to buy for the SAT/SAT II’s/ACT?

Also, FYI:

When you are comparing three or more things, use “best” or “worst”.

You only use “better” or “worse” when comparing two things.

Ohh haha sorry thanks! @prezbucky

Having gone to Yale I can say with certainty that there is no one right school for everyone. It makes me so upset when everyone lumps Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford and others into the same pool. They are all great academically - some better in some subject areas than others. But they have totally different feels to them. Someone posted that Stanford has better weather. Even that is subjective. My D - who in full disclosure is going to Yale in the fall - wanted to go to school in New England - no option. Even as a Yale legacy, she had a good list of schools -Wesleyan, Vassar, Tufts, Bowdoin. We took the college tours (2,000 miles in 4 days) and saw most of them because I wanted her to see something besides Yale. She was in love with Wesleyan because it is the number one vegan college on the east coast (maybe the country) and because a lot of kids from her high school go there. I know she would have been very happy there if she had not gotten into Yale.

So, take the advice and find a school that is good for you. My daughter would never consider a southern school, one because it does not fit her ideal of what a campus looks like (snow, old, ivy) and because vegan options were not listed when she checked their dining menus.
Research what is right for you, you can get into one of the schools you named and be miserable. Good luck.

@Tperry1982 thank you so much for the advice! Congrats to your daughter as well :)
