:-) you are saving me from looking for that old thread. Thanks! H has skied almost every region of the country except for Utah. So he’s looking at this as a notch in his belt. I think it’s odd because so many of our friends go there with some regularity. This is one college visit where H is not balking. Two weeks after that we all head for CO for a week to visit S1 so we will be hopefully “skied out” by April and we’ll be ready for the vaca drought that having 2 kids in college next year will financially cause!

I recommend Powder mountain! My DS and his friends go there as often as they can. We just had a major snowstorm move thru and got tons of snow! Last I heard, 4wd or chains are required. My DS has also been accepted at the U for mechanical engineering!

Its been many years but we went to a different ski resort everyday for 5 days. Alta was the best, more like Kirkwood in Calif.

Not much too add. We have skied many times in Utah and love Alta/Snowbird as well as Park City and Deer Valley. If you go to Deer Valley have lunch at the Stein Eriksen Lodge. Beautiful place with a fantastic buffet brunch/lunch. When our girls were younger they loved Deer Valley and all the pampering!

Yeah terinzak…as you can imagine my H is championing Utah for S3. He was accepted for Civil Engineering. S3 is playing it tight to his chest, has a several other acceptances and is waiting for 2 smaller RD rounds…but my mom’s intuition says Utah is a contender.

Momofthreeboys: My DS has always wanted to go to the U…especially since his interviewer got on the floor and played robots with him…and told him 1st yeare mech. engnrs get to build robots.

That is so cute. My S3 was fascinated by how things get built. We built a house when he was three and we have a good friend whose company builds freeway bridges. When he was young I worked for a REIT that built shopping centers. It’s been a lifelong thing with mine, also. Doesn’t hurt that I’m the only family member on my side in two generations who is not an engineer, so he’s been ‘hearing’ engineering stories his entire life.

I forgot to mention drive times. If you stay in Park City the drive to The U of U will be about 30 minutes and the drive to Alta about 45 minutes. If you stay at the U of U either Alta or PC is about 30 minutes away. Staying at the University House makes a lot of sense.

If it makes any difference, spring break is early this year, March 11-15. The University will be very quiet and non-representative. And if the snow is any good, all the U students who ski/board will be up skiing that week.

^^Glad you posted that I forgot about vacations…we will arrive the last day of February through March 5 so will “miss” spring break.
