for an a 78, what are the cut-off between the 3 houses? I have a mid-low number so I just want to know what are my chances to be in Scales vs. Sessions. I kinda doubt it being very likely but still either house seems to be a good choice.

the official notice of what house ur in is going 2b e-mailed on July 15th according to the e-mail.

These phone numbers are not reliable as indicators of where the student will be living, according to an email my daughter received recently from Smith. Is this a new development?

According to current Smithies, it used to be a pretty reliable method. BUT several student employees who work with housing have assured us that it isn’t this year. Kai Devlin posted this on the facebook group:

“I work with both the Housing Coordinator and Summer Housing Assistant, and they have both assured me that the extensions have been moved around, lines have been repaired/replaced, and that the extensions a lot of people are finding are completely wrong. The extensions really don’t mean anything right now. Seriously, it’s a completely unreliable means of figuring out your housing assignment.”

People have been getting their panties in a twist about this, which I think is a bit ridiculous. We’ll find out by the 15th, and it wouldn’t really change anything if we knew right now as opposed to in a few weeks time. So relax and enjoy your summer! Maybe obsess about your FYS or classes instead. :]

Does anyone know if phone numbers have been posted yet/if so, where to find them/if not, when they’re likely to be available? I know using them to figure out housing isn’t reliable, but I’m still curious to see Thanks!

userid1234 - I believe directory info for new students was posted a few days before housing info was released last year. You could always try searching for yourself to see.

I don’t think phone numbers have been released yet. I know that since most people are off-campus, phone numbers and the like (mailbox numbers) won’t be visible. I’ve tried searching for my friends through the directory with no luck except for their name and class year.

Besides the general trends outlined here, the atmosphere in any given house changes with every new cohort. Also, some houses within areas are noisier than others - I live in a very quiet house, but the house next door is a party shack. Besides, there can be a huge difference between floors, even - my floor last year was super noisy, but like I said, my house was a super quiet house generally, so what gives…

I mean, college is about new experiences, and new living arrangements is about as new as it gets
