Which type of people does better?

LOL…well said. That’s my new fave quote!!!

That’s true. But being dogged by the word “potential” is horrible thing.
Many slackers can say the quote but then drift off into having another latte at Starbucks instead of getting their butts in gear.

Since the topic has already drifted from “which type does better,” (for the record, my vote is on the intelligent slackers for previously stated reasons), a question:

How can the slackers do better?

I know a huge part of the answer is “just do it.” However, that is far more easily said than done. Consider that these are habits they’ve probably developed over at least a decade, perhaps more, which is over 50% of one’s conscious life when you remember you’re talking about kids in their late teens!

To answer my own question, I’ve always been impressed with the “break it down” method. It’s way easier to get yourself to do something if you know it isn’t going to take you 6 hours at a time – set aside a time for doing class readings every day, and then you won’t be behind (and probably won’t be missing anything from rushing through!).
