it looks like someone got a background check on the thursday before decisions came out for the spring 2020 class, which was the next day (friday). that person ended up being accepted. if anyone gets one please report here lol

I may have asked something similar already, but: is Friday the official decision day? And if so, did y’all find out via email or something? I ask b/c I haven’t gotten any follow-up email besides the auto-message confirming app submission.
@throwaway2101 it’s says on the website notifications will come out the week of the 2nd but nobody has heard anything so we’re all assuming Friday since that’s what has happened in The previous terms.
The woman I spoke to when I did my interview said I should hear this week, so I too am assuming Friday.
I read last years “summer 2019” internship forum. Everyone got their decisions April 1st or 2nd. It was a Monday/Tuesday. When the website said “Notifications begin March 2” I believe they meant that is when students will start HEARING about interviews or getting called for interviews, NOT the actual decision…
@ALS0121, I saw the same thing… I hope that’s not the case though. April 1st or 2nd is way past the acceptance deadline for pretty much all the other internships I’m familiar with 
Yeah, unfortunately I think that may be the case. There’s no reason for them to be giving us an earlier decision for this summer
Hi all, new to the thread but I am up to speed on all the comments and concerns.
Just throwing in another piece of information to color the interim waiting period… I interviewed this past Friday, and was told that acceptances would be out by March 6th. However this was from a staffer not WHIP personnel, so they may have a vague timeline as well since they’re not admin on these communications. I was left with the impression that that will be the case though. Good luck to everyone!

Is anyone applying for a second (or later) time? I’m thinking of applying again, but I don’t know if my application would be much different from now
@kerjuch I definitely plan to, if unsuccessful first go-round. Only hesitation on my end would be the relatively long application process w/o any sort of guaranteed interview interfacing. But I still anticipate applying for fall if not successful in summer.
I’ve monitored this thread since December, but I felt compelled to comment at least once in anticipation of notifications.
I interviewed late last month, and I was informed that decisions would be made and notifications would arrive within two weeks. I know people that have participated in the program in the past, so I’m somewhat familiar with the process. It’s important to understand that each department operates differently and they don’t all conduct interviews. There are also departments that aren’t listed on the application that also take interns. There is a review committee that disseminates strong applications to the most applicable departments. Once interviews are conducted by the respective department personnel, decisions are transmitted back to the internship department, which sends out the notifications.
All you did is say you got your decision already? so did you or not?.. because if you did not then all you confirmed is departments accept at their own discretion, as we previously believed. This ‘decision comes out Friday’ is nonsense; based literally on no evidence lol.
WHIPapplicant did not say whether they received their decision. Rather they confirmed the timeline we are all speculating about. “Late last month” is February, “within two weeks” puts us in this week.
I have also heard about the way applicants are rated and sorted between departments. It is true that there are committees that are not listed on the application that also select interns.
There is defeasible evidence to suggest Friday.
Has anyone gotten a background check email at all?
So I wasn’t called for an interview and I haven’t gotten any emails… are my chances slim?
