White House Internship

lol not a rejection notice an APE. @mollywine11‌

@GiantsintheSky That doesn’t seem to be a rejection notice. From what I heard, if you interviewed, completed paperwork and they checked your references and are processing your paperwork that is a good sign. I submitted my paperwork ~2 weeks ago and also got the same email update today.

Yea. “I got one” was in reference to an earlier post about APEs and not rejections. Got lost in the forum though. Sorry for the ambiguity.

@giantsinthesky I asked before what AEP meant. I think that is what you were answering to. Because you put application in progress email into APE i was able to look back two year at past posts to set up a general timeline for everyone. By overlaying peoples responses to our time table this is what I have.

Last year:

Oct 20th - Applications notifications starts
Oct 27th - APE sent out
Oct 28th to Nov 11th - INTERVIEWS will start for those who have not had them yet
Nov 12th - Another Applications in progress email
Nov 14th - Waitlisted
After that everything goes dark. Once you are excepted you cannot post onto this forum anymore (or at least that is my guess). So… Somewhere around Nov 14th after the wait listed email goes out people get there acceptance letters.

Now to translate into our time table:

March 9th - Applications notification starts
March 16th - APE sent out
March 17th to March 31 - INTERVIEWS will start for those who have not had them yet (Maybe even of those who have!)
April 1st - Another Applications in progress email sent out
April 3rd - Waitlisted email sent and what I can only guess is a acceptance letter

Remember… This is 100% speculative and should be taken with a grain of salt. I would however start reviewing some interview questions from past posts. Hope this helps and best of luck to everyone.

Wolfgang

@GiantsintheSky I asked if anyone got a rejection notice so I thought by you saying “I got one” you meant you were rejected. Sorry for calling you out! Thanks again for your help!

@wolfgang1025 Thanks for the information and advice - very helpful!

Also processing. Any idea how many applicants there were?

@learning2fly previous posts have said that they get around 6,000 applicants per year and accept about 150 interns for an acceptance rate slightly less than 3%.

Sheeeeit I didn’t get a processing email, and no DR forms after my interview 2 weeks ago.

@wh2015 I have not gotten an interview yet at all. Also, no forms or processing emails. I don’t know what to make of it, guess I’m out?

Got a processing email, but this is the first correspondence I’ve received since I submitted my app.

What % of people who get interviewed and submit the background check paperwork don’t get selected? Does anyone know?

Anyone heard /anything/ yet? Probably going to have to turn down an alternate offer in 45 minutes. Argh.

What does this processing email say? Is it the one asking for background check paperwork?

@HiratioAlger no the processing email that many of us got yesterday basically says “your application is still under review,” meaning that you have not been rejected nor accepted. There is a separate email that asks you to fill out a background check.

Did your background check/paperwork email begin “You have been recommended to advance to the departmental review phase for the Summer 2015 White House Internship Program”? I didn’t get the “processing” email, but I did get that one this week, with the security paperwork.

I have a friend who was rejected yesterday morning, so decisions are starting to be made.

@drumwriter22 Thanks for the update. Has anyone else heard of rejections or acceptances? Cheers!

Does anyone know how much time can pass before someone is rejected? I’ve heard of people getting accepted the week before and obviously people who get a really late interview and don’t go through with it are going to be rejected. But if you do everything that they ask, is it unlikely for us to be rejected if we rejected late April? If we receive no contact until much later, does that mean it’s more likely that we’re going to be accepted?

@HiratioAlger Yes, - that was the background check email I got - beginning w/ “You have been recommended to advance to the departmental review phase for the Summer 2015 White House Internship Program”
