Who are better drivers?

Men are generally much better drivers. I don’t know about women, my mom is a good driver, but teenage girls are awful. I’ve nearly been run over 4 TIMES by teenage girls, never by a teenage guy. Every time I have had the right of way as a pedestrian. Girls just, I dunno, are very tempermental. One honked and screamed at me, and I was going through the crosswalk on my bike. Honking should be restricted to only the most serious situations, because it has the effect of really pushing a man’s buttons. It’s like a complete stranger telling you to **** off. It brings out that primal aggression within. Guys are usually calmer, more mellow people (unless someone honks at them), so we wait our turn.

aim78 reminded me of another thing: women flip out a lot more. By that I don’t mean they get angry at people, which men certainly do a lot more, but I mean they are startled and potentially lose their focus. I’ve noticed this especially when driving with my mom- whenever some sudden action occurs, she gasps loudly and freaks out, but my dad just calmly and quickly reacts to it like it is no big deal.

amen to that aim78 - teenage girls are abysmal drivers, in disproportionate numbers to bad teenage guy drivers.
I would also like to say something else - at my high school (i’m sure this is by no means unique), lifted black Ford trucks were prominant. Mostly guys, of course, but there were a few girls with massively lifted trucks. Now, not only do I not see the point of these ridiculous contraptions in Coto de Caza (south orange county), where the most off-road action you’ll get is a patch of dirt on the parking lot at South Coast Plaza, but for the love of all things holy, DO NOT DRIVE THESE TRUCKS LIKE SPORTS CARS. Most teenages are not the most in tune to the capabilities of their cars, so I find it scary that people driving these trucks blaze around like they were in a Gallardo. I have no problem with fast speed when you are a skillful driver in the proper car (I myself have a very heavy lead foot, but I’m in a small sporty hatchback), but trucks were simply not meant for speed.

I tend to think that men are worse drivers. I rarely let my guy friends drive me anywhere because they actually scare me. Although there are some girls I know who drive atrociously (one of them actually ran into the side of a house), the guys tend to be really reckless and much more terrifying to ride with.

But that wasn’t my question. Men get into more accidents. I believe no one is debating this. The question is who is more skilled at driving, not who drives in a safer manner.

men have more peripheral vision (it’s true)
women have to turn their heads a little more to see stuff or something so it makes them a little bit more crazy, if you know what i mean

I was on my bike today, and there was this slow dude in the bike lane in front of me. I checked the road to make sure it was clear, and swerved into the road and back in front of the guy. While I’m getting back into the lane, this horn BLARES at me from behind. I look into the car and there is this middle aged woman looking REALLY miserable and angry. I would have flipped her off, but I was afraid she would run me over in a bout of menopause-induced rage.

Now that we have this argument settled, let us never speak of it again (especially around women.)

she was driving in the bike lane?!

men better drivers, women just more cautious and less wreckless

Ok, I know this is an isolated example, but still–my truck is the only car parked in our school parking lot. Parked. Motionless. Big truck. Daytime. Out of the whole, big parking lot, this girl runs into my truck. It is statistically unfathomable. Needless to say I was ****ed.

isolated Examples from my school:

Boy forgets to turn on a curved road and drives into a tree

Girl goes 40mph out of the driveway and demolishes a mailbox

Girl wrecks car the day she gets her license

Girl rear ends school bus going 20mph.

Girl gets her Porsche Boxster smashed between two school buses when leaving the school parking lot.

Girls: 4
Boys:1

Conclusion: Males are better drivers
