It depends on where you’re at too. Our mountain just put in a new rental fleet. In Japan you can rent very high end tech skis from all the major manufacturers. I’m not sure I’ll bring mine next time.
Thanks - sounds like in this case trash is best.
I loved my 25 year old K2 skis/bindings (short length for their era). But… the bindings had long been too old for ski shops to adjust them. That concerned me for safety reasons, especially with old my aging body parts. In theory I could have just replaced the bindings but opted to get a new. Did demo rentals from a nearby shop (March 2022 -2 pr, used), March 2023 - the exact demo ski/binding that I ended up ordering new), using with my old boots.
The demo bindings are heavier, but it saved me over $200 - got skis/binding under $500. Also was nice to order identical to what I tried. The ability to try demo boots was an unexpected bonus.
I had to laugh… I put 2 sets of skis out at the curb for trash pickup. When I came back from playing pickleball this morning, one set was gone. I think they only ever had 2 weeks of use, but I didn’t feel right offering them after asking here.
