If I were choosing, it would have been Oklahoma and LSU/Georgia, which, you will notice, are 2 NON PAC-10/BIG-10 TEAMS. Actually, I dislike both the Big-12 and SEC conferences, but I think those teams are most deserving. True, HI doesn’t have power over their conference. But they do have pwr over their non-conference schedule. I will give them respect if they can beat USC, Florida, Wisconsin, and powerhouse NW on a regular basis. Once they do that, then they will deserve to go ahead of an 11-1 team that lost only to the #3 team in the country. Your theory is amusing, but not truly fair. HI hasn’t proven that they want to earn respect through their pre-season schedule this year, and until they do, many, many people will only regard them as an exciting team that sneaks up when other teams fall by playing cupcakes on a regular basis.</p>

<p>I disagree with you that Hawaii shouldn’t be in a BCS bowl. The BCS (composed of all NCAA Div 1 conference commissioners + Notre Dame AD) made the rules and Hawaii was awarded a spot based on those rules.</p>

<p>It’s not my “theory” it’s facts based on the given rules.</p>
<p>Hawaii wasn’t an “at-large” selection. The three teams that are “at-large” selections are Kansas, Georgia and Illinois. Kansas should have been replaced by Missouri. Illinois was selected because it was a BigTen team, and the Tournament of Roses wanted to preserve a BigTen/Pac-10 matchup. Florida was not able to be part of the BCS, since Georgia and LSU were already in, and the BCS does not allow 3 teams from a conference.</p>
<p>I never said you weren’t quoting the rules, I know HI is qualified through them. I’m just saying I disagree with how they are selected, when better, more exciting teams/matchups are out there just waiting to be seen.</p>
<p>Tedford is supposedly one of the top 3 candidates for the Michigan job now, just thought I’d throw that out there.</p>
<p>I agree with UCB. I just want to add that Hawaii is definitely more deserving Kansas. I don’t believe Kansas has harder schedule than Hawaii and Hawaii is undefeated. That alone merits quite a bit considering the parity and how wacky the results were this year.</p>

<p>You don’t want to underestimate Hawaii. That QB throws more accurately than anyone right now. Most QBs in top teams, including Booty, definitely don’t throw as well as he does.</p>
<p>Tedford said he wouldn’t leave Cal until his kids are out of school. Also, he is a native Californian.</p>
<p>But, I think it all hinges on whether or not Cal wins the lawsuit to remodel the stadium. If Cal loses, I’d say all bets are off and we can kiss Tedford goodbye.</p>

<p>Coming back from being down 21-0 against Washington, ultimately ending with 5 TDs, Colt Brennan definitely is a prolific passer. He was the nation’s top passer last year.</p>

But he will be either boom or bust at the next level. He’s tremendously accurate, got a good arm, and is a clutch player. But I think because he’s playing in a system offense, he was able to be so prolific. Plus, NFL teams aren’t going to like his sidearm throwing. He could go anywhere from early first round to second or third round, depending on how he performs in the Sugar Bowl.</p>

<p>UCB: that’s exactly what I’m disagreeing with. Again, I don’t doubt their potential, only how they would match up with the best of the best week-in and week-out.</p>
<p>HI has an incredible offense, but again, I have to think LSU’s defense would be just slightly stronger than nevada, san jose state, etc. What ever happened to HI’s last two qb’s, btw? Are they even in the NFL?</p>

<p>But Timmy Chang isn’t nearly as good at this guy. Timmy Chang threw a lot of passes and quite a few of them were interceptions and he’s not nearly as accurate.</p>
