Who's applying ED to Penn?

@sweetcookie, I think they have a poll or some kind of vote each year to decide which schools get personalized clothing. Well that’s what this forum says anyway: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-pennsylvania-2013/733989-upenn-victorias-secret.html

@sweetcookie Penn State does have 2-3x the number of students as Penn.

aww well, it’s not like i’ll be buying any college gear anytime soon.

Speaking of victoria secret, anyone watch the fashion show last week? I have now made a resolution to get buffer/in shape as soon as I get accepted, hopefully by Penn. Gah 3 more days.

@All: Just curious, what do admission (including Penn’s) officers mean by “passion” in Extra Curriculars? Does it mean leadership positions, awards, dedication to it? Essentially, do you have to write every essay possible on them? I talked about one activity I love in my Extra Curricular essay, but besides that, the rest of my essays focused on who I was as a person and my personality, etc. Not so much on my activities (though, some parts of my personality including what I’m involved in, so…).

Hows it going sweetcookie? Hows the weather over at NC? How was your day?

@hardworking, that’s what I did too. They can probably see through your EC response, interview, common APP activities description, and maybe a bit from your why penn essay where your passion lies. So to sum that up: they probably get the “sense” of your passion through all those components together.

Okay a couple questions to keep this thread rolling:

What’s your quirkiest habit?

if you guys could buy any one store in all of America which would it be? (including clothing, groceries, etc.)

—and any one restaurant chain?

Also: just a general question, but don’t you just HATE it when you’re trying to get just the right level of warm water but it’s too cold, then too hot, then too cold - and so on? Or does that just happen to me?

And @free2rhyme, I know I’ve asked you this before but I’m getting more and more curious lol - what race exactly within the category of “Asian” are you?

Also I’d describe myself as obsessive (which is probably more negative anyway but it could be positive too sometimes!)

if you guys could buy any one store in all of America which would it be? (including clothing, groceries, etc.)

target! you can get everything!

well it’s not a habit, but I can make myself sneeze…
I guess if I had to go with a habit, it’s braiding. I always braid my hair when I’m bored, or my belt, or other people’s hair, or strings. I just like it…

URBAN OUTFITTERS, URBAN OUTFITTERS, URRRRBAN OUTFITTERS.

-Definitely Panera Bread. My weak spot.

-And that happens to me all the time! It’s never just right. (I’m feeling oddly reminiscent to Goldy locks and the three bears…)

@quanta

Yeaaaa the fashion show was so good!!! Did you see The 2.5 million bra ? The girl in the clam I think her name was Miranda.

Also, forever21 had an Ivy League collection approximately five months ago. I wanted to buy the Penn tee, but I couldn’t bring myself to do it.

isn’t it adorable?

Yeah, and she already had a child. Unbelievable. It was pretty amazing.

Quirky: making awkward moments?
Store: Costco, lol, where you can find basically everything and “save da money”
Restaurant: Cheesecake Factory/Joe’s Crab Shack

You guys are insane. I come home from track, shower, nap, and see 17 extra pages.

Yea she had a baby like 3 months before that.

I’d probably buy out lifetime fitness gyms if that counts…

@aangel. Thank you so much. I am really starting to run out of ideas for questions and we still need to get to 170.

Quirkiest habit (not really, quirky, but creepy): I get mesmerized really easily. I just start to stare at something for an extended period of time. Like, sometimes when someone is talking, I just start staring at their forehead.

If i could own one store…(I bet everyone’s thinking walmart), but I am going to get back to this question and the one to the restaurant. I like this one.

Water question: It happens to me all the time. Especially in the morning when I take a shower. I hate it when its too hot or too cold.

I am obsessive too.

I like Indonesian music, somewhat listen to KPop, hate sushi, but love to eat Chinese and Indian food, watch anime/animations when I am interested, into some Japanese poetry and Middle Eastern mythology/literature. Does it really matter what “type” of Asian I am? Aren’t we all “Asians” whether we are Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, Indian, Pakistani, or some of the other nationalities in Asia?

I’d like to preserve the mystery behind my ethnicity just to create suspense for those who care. I might tell everyone at the end of the college process. Plus some of you can already guess what I am.

OMG I LOVE COSTCO!!! AND URBAN OUTFITTERS omg and AE a lot.

Oh oh oh and I was in NY the other day and I stopped by the HUGE Hollister there and it was like freezing cold and Hollister had their electronic wave simulator thingy outside and I just LOVE the atmosphere and vibe that Hollister has too  Don’t you guys just love going to certain stores sometimes? Just like being there for a while? I think Barnes and Noble and Starbucks have that vibe too. Like you can just be there all day long once you go lol

And I ADORE Forever 21 - as for that shirt, I’d probably throw a mini-tantrum if I went there and saw that shirt this week, but it’s the cutest thing ever!

EmPaige, you might know this, but one of the first if not the first Urban Outfitters was on/ adjacent to Penn’s campus. My mom used to shop there just a few years after it opened.

:) All the more reason to love it.

I would like to either own Stone Cold Creamery (b/c of the ice cream) or College Board (b/c of the profits).

Restaurant I would like to own would probably be Cheesecake Factory.
