Who's applying ED to Penn?

mit get out of here

@kristinabrown @senio12 yes, at Penn for 8 years…studying…needless to say that doesn’t really reflect what my educational endeavors will be like post-high school . haha.

pianofreak…i have always been sooo interested in the brain and psychology…i actually learned about the major before penn…i want to go into neurosurgery and do a substantial amount of med. research it just seems perfect lol

@WaitingGirl - yay, I finally found someone who understands the trauma of moving schools so many times.

sweetcookie…my dad lives in Jersey and i live in kansas with my mom… i was sooooo close to moving after my sophomore year…honestly i am soo glad i didnt my chances of admission would have been completely wrecked considering my scores

What is everyone’s second choice school?

kristinabrown1 that’s awesome! i used to want to be a neurosurgeon too, until i realized i could never handle cutting someone’s head open haha. but I also really want to go into medical research.

i hope we both get in! :)

@sweetcookie, haha, that works to our advantage and disadvantage somehow. It is hard to secure leadership positions when you are changing schools every year. But at the same time, it is nice to meet so many different people and become friends with them! :)

@BBB people: why neurobiology? i really like bio and medicine, and i considered BBB, but i dont really see whats so interesting about the brain. Id love to hear what you think

@loldanielol: Duke. I see it as a slightly worse non-ivy version of Penn in a worse location, which still makes it a great school compared to everywhere else

@pianoforte i did some research this summer involving developing new materials for suturing wounds and actually had to make a cut on a live person…it was pretty surreal…me too lol that would be awesome we could be likelong lost besties haha, … i just realized what u said earlier, i want to minor in music also…i play the violin and absolutely love it…do you compete nationally in solo performance by chance, maybe we have met/

@WaitingGirl - But did you do okay with your EC’s with all the moving?

So anyone else on here apply to intel sts this year? if so what was your project about?

john4penn ok it is just so amazing to me that our world exists because of a three pound mass. All the brain is, is a mass of cells…but it is so much… it is hundreds of millions of cells that form trillions of connections that make anything and everything possible…i think it is fascinating that we only exist through a series of relatively simply chemical reactions…all controlled by a big pink blob

For those who had interviews, did your interviewer graduate from the school that you are applying to?

MITFreak321…lawl the more you ■■■■■ the more posts we get which means the more legendary we will be

And I will be the symbol or leader of this legend.

@MITFreak, thank you so much. You are helping me reach my goal of 185 pages.

@sweetcookie, I think the most important thing is not how many leadership titles one holds, but how big an impact one can leave on a school in a certain amount of time (one year’s time in each school, in my case). Everybody has different situations, and I have tried to make the most of what I have got. I have created clubs in schools in both China and America, and they have become big hits in the schools I attended! And they still exist today! I also joined many other clubs, and I have found them in such a variety that they gave me different perspectives on life and my future career.

And yeah, I didn’t emphasize ECs a lot on my application…

kristinabrown1 that sounds so interesting - idk if i could have done that!! ya i’ve been playing piano for a while and was in the world piano competition a couple times, but i really want to go more into music theory. are you thinking of doing violin performance? i think music and neuroscience would be an awesome combo. have you read the book Musicophilia by Oliver Sacks? i’m reading it now, and it’s all about music and the brain - you should definitely read it!

I feel like the brain is overly complicated beyond the scope of human reason, so that no man will ever be able to fully comprehend its intricacies. Idk its weird, it seems like this mystery would draw me to neurology since I really like the study of cancer and diseases and such, but everytime i think about it its like my brain tells me “its completely pointless” lol
