Accepted: Mr. Saxobeat - Alexandra Stan (no particular reason. This is just ‘my jam’.)
Deferred: Float On - Modest Mouse
Rejected: Someone Like You - Adele → And for this I plan to change the lyrics around to ‘nevermind, I’ll find a college like you’. Haha

I am seriously freaking out right now OMGOMG. Two people from our school just got into Columbia ED! And @QwertyNerd, love Adele, haha.

It comes out at 5 AM? 6 AM? (daylight saving time: yes/no?) for me, so I’m waking up early to panic alone in my room. Fingerscrossed and good luck to everyone (:

Had trouble sleeping last night due to anxiety, its 4:23 am right now. Good Luck Everyone! Its hard to imagine that by the end of today, we will know our results.

One of my amazing friends just got deferred for Columbia. 10 more hours, God I need a countdown clock. Going to install one now on my desktop xD

@45 Percenter: that was so scary - seeing the yellow banner up there Do you have any advice to help us get through the next most torturous 6 hours? I couldn’t sleep at all last night - which is a problem I have NEVER had before in my life.

I can’t believe we counted down to this day but it feels scarier and more nerve-wracking than any other day in my life.

@mwrecks: I LOVE YOUR WAY OF OPENING UP YOUR DECISION. I’m using that too haha

Also @acceptmealready: what happened with your Cornell ED friend? Sorry that’s random lol but I just remembered Good news?! :)

That yellow banner is a hyperlink, by the way, in case anyone wants to use it to get to the decisions page.

Don’t really have any advice–this is one of those nerve-racking days of life you just have to grit your teeth and get through. There will be others.

But keep in mind that, in the long run, what really matters is not where you end up going to college, but rather how you take advantage of it while you’re there. You’ll soon discover in the real world that the successful people you encounter, however you define success, have come from a wide variety of educational backgrounds, and that it’s the person–and not the school–that determines the success. I know that sounds trite, and hard to appreciate when your entire life is currently focussed on where you’ll go to college, but it really is something to bear in mind as you go through this process.

That being said, this is certainly one of the most exciting times in your life so far, and you should try to enjoy the exciting and fun part of today, and let the chips fall where they may. You’re all smart and talented kids with a lot to offer, and that will go with you wherever you go.

No matter what happens, just keep a positive, can-do attitude. That, and not the name that ends up on your college diploma, will be what makes you truly succeed in life. And that’s an incontrovertible fact (as any adult with real-world experience will tell you).

So no matter what happens–keep up the great work and the passion! You’re all great people who deserve lots of success!

I’m just an alum who keeps up with Penn and admissions, and tries to provide as much helpful info as I can. A lot of misinformation about Penn and Philly gets thrown around on CC (but, of course, not on this thread!), and I try to do my part to answer questions and provide a factual counterweight to some of the more outrageous claims and generalizations that pop up on here from time to time.

I don’t usually get too involved in lengthy social threads like this one, but you guys are such a fun and enthusiastic group, I couldn’t resist! :)
