^^WOW! nice, that’s a really selective program!

accepted to cas! pm for facebook :)

Oh and I’m LSM! Let me know if you got in too!!

Hello people I kind of followed this thread during the final days before today’s decision.
I came from Peru to California 6 years ago, and today has perhaps been one of the happiest days of my life as i got accepted in to the Huntsman program!
I look forward to meeting people from Upenn’s class of 2016 since we will be meeting each other in less than a year. Congratulations to all those who got in!

deferred…

how sad am i, i’m still listening to penn masala on itunes.

awk.

i got into CAS! i am so excited! how do you guys plan on talking to people beforehand? facebook?

deferred from CAS. :’( sucks. totally.

SO MANY OF YOU HAVEN’T POSTED IN THE DECISIONS THREAD

not cool

if you were deferred/rejected, just do it! It gives closure that we all need.

If you were accepted, it’s a chance to brag!

SO, POST!!!

how do you know the difference between rejected and deffered?

Because your letter either says rejected or it says deferred, durrr.

if differed… does it say differed?

^Yes, it will say something like “After careful consideration, we have chosen to defer your application” or something like that.

Unfortunately for me, they stated the other way around.

One last question: I somehow listed myself as a financial aid candidate, but never intended to and didn’t send in a form(By the time I found out about this, the decisions were coming out the next day, yuck). That didn’t influence my decision, did it?..

^ Not if you’re a citizen or permanent resident of the US, Canada, or Mexico. Admissions are need-blind for those applicants, meaning whether those applicants apply for financial aid has no effect on their admissions decisions.

^ So my rejection was coming even if I actually followed through with my financial aid application, huh. (I need to actually watch what I click on for my RD applications)

This is what the first paragraph of the deferral letters says:

The Admissions Selection Committee has chosen to defer our decision on your Early Decision application to the University of Pennsylvania. After careful consideration, the Committee has decided to wait until the Regular Decision notification date of March 29, 2012, to make a final determination on your application. The Committee chooses to defer a decision when we wish to have more time to evaluate an application in the context of the broader applicant pool. We realize that you may be disappointed with this delay, but please know that your commitment to join Penn’s community will be thoughtfully re-evaluated during the Regular Decision process.
