Who's applying ED to Penn?

Not to bum everyone out, but I can pretty much see half of the people here (including me) thinking after December 15, “wow, why in the world did I waste all my time posting on this thread. I should have started my other apps.”

Atleast that’s how it works in my school. People who applied ED in earlier years were all hype about Penn till decision day. Afterwards, there was an eerie silence from them whether it be about Penn or any other college.

Let’s discuss opinions on Drake’s new album, yes? :D

Well those feelings are only human nature after failure. We post on this thread because doing so helps relieve some of the nervous anxiety we feel days before decisions come out, not because we want to truly gain some advantage in the admissions game. So I wouldn’t say being on here was a waste of time, since I would have just spent more time on facebook instead on my other college apps.

Well said sweetcookie (I definitely feel like I’m calling you a pet name…) THAT BEING SAID, YOU GOTA 2320 so you have a much better chance than the majority of us haha

Well I’m Asian, so a score above 2300 is pretty much expected from me lol

Ahh, sweetcookie I’m so jealous of your score. :P

I think this might’ve already been discussed, but does being an URM help very much in admissions? I’m hispanic, but I’m not ‘underprivileged’ or anything. Say if my scores/essays/academics are just ‘okay’ but not ‘amazing’–do I still have a good chance because of affirmative action or no?

11 more days. I am so nervous D: I’m predicting that I’ll be deferred. Possibly rejected. I’ll be really surprised if accepted. How about you guys?

I guess this thread has different effects on different people. I know that there are way more qualified people applying, but I guess this thread makes me realize even more how futile it was to apply. Just to note: I didn’t say you were here to get an advantage in the admissions process.

Well I didn’t completely read the entire thread (with like 20 pages appearing in less than a day), but after skimming it, I guess you guys are starting to become friends. I just assumed from the first few pages and the last 2 or 3 pages with the essay topics, everyone was still freaking out about their apps.

sweetcookie, out of curiosity, what type of Asian are you? Because I noticed you were from Canada; I am too!

And QwertyNerd, Affirmative Action does help you. And for me, I prepping myself for the next 11 days for rejection by perusing old rejection letters and envisioning the letter in mind.

hi guys!

applied early to nursing from princeton, nj
sorry to join in the convo so late, but i did get a chance to read most of the posts
thanks for the articles and whatnot. they were helpful, but definitely made me more anxious
lol can’t wait for the 9th…

good luck to all!

Aww, free2rhyme, you probably shouldn’t be so negative. However, I think prepping for rejection is probably better than prepping for acceptance. I’d rather be pleasantly surprised after thinking I was rejected than completely crushed after thinking I was accepted.

How do we get the decision anyway? Do we check the portal? Will they e-mail us when it comes out?

@free2rhyme: woohoo more Canadians in this thread…that’s good to know
there weren’t that many canucks in the 2015 Penn ed results thread so I can’t get a good grasp on what kind of people Penn wants from Canada lol
btw I’m Chinese…nothing special there la

Is it really the 9th? Confirmed?

Anyways. Let’s all meet up if we’re accepted lol.

[Penn Plan Online](<a href=“Submit My Documents | Penn Student Registration & Financial Services| Penn Srfs”>Submit My Documents | Penn Student Registration & Financial Services| Penn Srfs)

^ That site says it’s the 9th. It says it’s an approximation, though.

And yes! We should meet up and celebrate if we’re accepted. :D

You’ll get it by logging in here:

https://www.admissions.upenn.edu/decisions/mydecision.php</a></p>

They’ll update that page within the next few days to indicate the exact time and date that ED decisions will be available.

I would hate it if we got all our hopes up for dec 9th and then the Penn people decide to postpone d-day till the 15th or something…

To be honest, that will probably happen. Has anyone called/ emailed to ask?

Well actually didn’t Cornell already confirm that decisions will be released on the 8th?
If Cornell can make it before the 8th, Penn should be too!
EmPaige21 - Did you get my visitor message? =]

On the way home today, I prepared myself for the rejection. I’m ready. It’s 99% inevitable, luck is very much against me, and miracles are inconceivable. It’s been nice knowing y’all.

@sweetcookie, yeahhhhhhhhh Chinese here too…

Those Harvard NEWBS are talking about AI. How typical of them.

@sweetcookie @laodicean
Chinese too lol.
which decreases our chances by like tons.

but hey cheer up!!!:slight_smile: I think I need to get my mind into a state of acceptance–accepting wutevers going to happen
what’s meant to happen will happen, and wherever we end up, we’ll be happy.

@laodicean- Me too :frowning: Except for the Chinese part…
@sweetcookie- yes ma’am, and I responded!
