@kristinabrown1 i’m not so sure either. when i visited campus for my overnight, i sat in on a jv/varsity practice and there were only about 2 or 3 strong stunt groups. the other ones were still learning how to do extensions so i’m thinking they were probably jv. i coach the pop warner team in my town too which is rec cheerleading, the same team i was on when i was younger. you’re definitely more into it than i am though! always wanted to do all star but didn’t have the time commitment and even this year, i couldn’t do school cheer bc i’m really involved in class council who sells food at the football games… hopefully we’ll be able to discuss pros/cons to cheering after dec. 9th! lol

@hoiboy you mentioned you were applying to nursing right? are you actually a “boy”? haha just going by your username. in terms of your question, i think not necessarily. from my school district, i’m sure schools like penn expect scores in the 2200s+ as opposed to being high-achieving but having a lower score than that in a less competitive school. either way you have to stand out in your personal situation

Pennpenn16 - welcome new member! haha i like saying your account name especially the pennpenn part. it’s cute xD…everyone’s intimidating each other…that’s not the point of this thread though. i feel like all you guys are special in one way or another, whether it’s essay topics, sat scores, or excellent e.c.'s, but the way penn perceives our amazing qualities is ultimately what counts in the end.

you know, youre so right @free2rhyme. i need a break from all this haha but its just so inspiring to listen to everyones stories and hopes ! also, one last thing is, i am a rower and do you think this could help me with admissions? im working hard to get recruited, and i heard there arent that many women rowers that apply.

@SENIOI2 no wayy ! i used to live in seoul ( well, only 2 years) then i moved here to philly but i love it there (: which part did you live in?

I hope my Penn financial aid stuff were received all together. Being paranoid as I am, I fear that the SFS didn’t even review my stuff because I’ve already been rejected.

@sweetcookie, I don’t know whether living in PA helps or not. But to lessen the blow, I am starting to research Columbia, so I am trying not to spaz out about Penn. American and Canadian life are not that different. I don’t really know what’s going to happen with me, but I have a good feeling that you are going to get in (I practically know nothing about you, but I just feel like you are going to get in). Good luck, and lets keep in touch in case we both end up in Philly too.

Part of why I didn’t want to keep looking back at this thread was because it would increase my anxiety. But you guys have been so nice that I have completely forgotten about the stress. But honestly, I don’t want to be here for the countdown, so yeah good luck guys. I will probably pop in once in a while to see how its going.

Can someone explain the context of your school part? I understand that they look at how many APs you are in, how many you could’ve taken, etc…but the bottom line is, basically, you can’t mess up? As in, if your school has a good amount of APs, you’re expected to take a majority of them and get As in all of them? That’s how I interpreted it, but I feel as if there is another interpretation out there.

@free2rhyme: Thanks buddy! That’s seriously one of the nicest things anyone has said to me. I,too, hope we both get in. I was honestly obsessed with Columbia for a while, because it’s in NYC and all that. But after visiting there last year on a dreary rainy day, I just didn’t feel like it was the right place for me. Regardless, it’s still a very prestigious school and anyone would be lucky to get into it. @EmPaige21 - what you talking about girl? You’re a fierce competitor on this forum haha

Bahha, just playing. The reason I think this is so funny is because a girl in my Spanish class said this last week. I said “this class is practically all caucasian” and she said “No, dude, there are a lot of white people in here”

… she didn’t apply to Penn ED.

And mwrecks94, what school did you apply to in Penn?

@onlypenn18 to be honest, i’m not sure. lol sorry if i gave you the insinuation that i lived there recently. it was from when i was born to 1 years old then 4-7. i’m pretty assimilated into american culture but being korean will always be a part of my background. good luck with rowing though! my host at my overnight was a female rower but she walked onto the team. don’t know any rowers from my school that got recruited to penn. a fencer got recruited last year and a football player is getting recruited this year

i’m with free2rhyme. not so much the anxiety, but i’ve got to try to pulls As 1st semester in the chance that december 9th doesn’t bear good news for me.
good luck everyone!!
