Who's applying ED to Penn?

My SAT bio score is probably lower.

My favorite class was tenth grade english. Favorite class this year - none, if I had to pick one, I would maybe say Calc.

My favorite subjects are bio and chem though.

Thanks guys. I’m not sure if you were saying that to appease me or you actually believe it ._.

Favorite class is def Calc or Phys.

@acceptmealready

Yeah, a few weeks ago, I was avidly researching Penn dorms and whether the quad was better or the high rises. Then, I spent an hour or so looking for places to buy basic dorm room furniture sooo… you’re not alone. Ahhh 'twas all wishful thinking :P

My fave classes- Physics & Gov.

haha @everybody. nice one.

and i think it would have to be ap calc this year. it is so straight forward, it is a nice relief from the metaphors, analysis, and essays.

Psych. Psych. Psych. I got to hang out with a bunch of cool seniors as the only junior in the class. And there was this boy…

Anybody here listen to Drake’s new album? :D

@mylife, I saw a got a sub-700 SAT math score (subject or actual test, I forgot) on CC, who got in. But he/she also included an explanation of why he got that and how he could handle the courseload at wharton.

I heard Penn dorms had roaches and other crap like that. But seriously, thinking about dorms right now will just bum some of you guys later.

@mylife, yes!
@free2rhyme, Some homes in my neighborhood recently had roach infestations… :/

Is an 800 on the sat 2 test too low for Wharton?

bahaha sorry i just had to do that, considering there are some academic freaks on CC who enjoy retaking 2390s and 790s.

true. sorry if that makes people sad. i know it makes me get excited, so i will probs be crushed. yeah.

@freed2rhye-- Eh, maybe I should’ve. Throughout my app, math is kind of a weak point. I’m also an ORM :frowning: Anywho, I do have some cool extracurrics to my name and I tried to show a very clear passion for social entrepreneurship-- but idk if that’ll cover it.

@sweetpuri-- Listening to Underground Kings right now :D

@mylife, I was listening to that yesterday. Gotta love Over My Dead Body… “Shout out to Asian girls” lol :)

@mylife, I am an ORM too, math was and sort of still is one of my strongest subjects, and my math scores aren’t great. But seriously your really wasting your time and theirs if you justify something like that on your application. Your ECs will probably cover it.

On an interview with Mr. Furda and other school reps, I heard Mr. Furda said that they get really annoyed when they find resumes attached with the application. They also said most people who get into Wharton have barely any if not any business experience.

And just out of curiosity, many people on this forum say they will be extremely crushed if they are rejected to Penn. Most people apply to schools like HYP just for kicks. If I was rejected by HYP or Penn, I would not be “crushed” but just shrug it off. So essentially, why would you guys beat yourselves for getting a rejection/deferal which most people would get? My question, is do you guys treat Penn like HYP? Do you guys actually believe it is a rare privilege to go to Penn or do you actually somewhat expect going there?

Nooo… I attached a resume…I’m probably screwed anyway

@free2rhyme, there were a lot of things in there, so here’s my response to what I think you’re asking-

I am absolutely enamored with Penn. I have no interest in HYP, so for me Penn surpasses HYP in appeal and I would find it to be an extreme honor going there. It just epitomizes everything I want in a college. So yes, I will (and am expecting to) be crushed on Friday. Fortunately, however, I have second and third choice colleges that I will be very happy attending and hopefully they will help me cope. Also, I already have accepted the fact that I am going to be at least deferred if not rejected Friday, so I think my feigned acceptance of defeat will help remove the sting.

@free2rhyme i think it is less that i would say “oh what could i have done???” than an issue of “i’m really upset that I missed a great opportunity” and in response to the “why do we treat it like hpy” comment…i guess because all of them are kind of in the same general league. i know many people who apply to all ivies may look at it differently, but i know for me I would love to go to penn as much as i would love to go to yale…actually more because penn was the one i decided to apply to as is the case with the rest of the people on this thread (i think). and it is a rare privilege to go to penn…only 14 percent of the people who want it, get it.

im just curious…why did you apply to penn ed? (that did not mean to sound facetious, i just genuinely want to know)

Yeah I sort of lost the meaning in my question. But basically my reasoning was that most people who apply to HYP usually just shrug off a rejection. But with applicants to Penn, they take it real hard. So my question was why?

EDIT: acceptmealready, my queston was sort of why don’t we (including ED applicants) treat Penn like HYP? sorry if that wasn’t clear

And EmPaige, you did sort of answer it. I guess that’s what everyone is expecting in a way.

And sweetcookie, I don’t think it will be that bad, unless you restated stuff on the common app in your resume as well. And even if you did, they will probably be a little ticked off or maybe not (if a lot of people do it), they won’t just say rejection pile.

I did reinstate stuff from my common app in my resume to elaborate on my roles in the clubs. Aww screw it then. I can’t change anything now.

I’ll be very devestated, because Penn’s my secret crush and my heart pounds just thinking about it <3

Most people who apply to HYP 1) are soulless robots who only worked hard in high school to please admissions officers or 2) didn’t REALLY expect to get in. In the latter case, one wouldn’t expect to be CRUSHED as they never expected to get in in the first place.

Penn, on the other hand, attracts applicants who worked hard in high school for less superficial reasons, and the ones that get in certainly did not do things to impress admissions officers. Those who apply to Penn (especially ED) have an uncanny attachment to the school and are crushed because of this and not because they expected to get in. For Penn students, it’s personal because they feel that rejection of this attachment is indicative of almost an unrequited love.
