Who's fed up with Starbucks?

percussiondad, I like DD, too, although nothing beats Tim’s coffee, in my opinion. One issue is that I’ve never had a Tim’s coffee in the U.S. that tastes as good as it does here. I imagine it’s the difference in water. I do prefer DD’s donuts, though!

The employees at Starbucks here seem to be fine. I don’t go in often because I don’t like their coffee and we have so many other options but their chai tea is good.

I love Starbucks and have found the service to be great hereabouts. Kind of surprised to hear an experience to the contrary given the company’s emphasis on customer service, but I guess that can happen anywhere…even Nordstrom! I’m not a fan of the fancy drinks and rarely buy the desserts, but have heard that the warm fresh-baked cookies new to our area are really good.

Dunkin Donuts ( I keep wanting to spell the Canadian way doughnut) does not sell the toasted almond in Kcups. Believe me I have tried, I have gone as far as calling the head office and asking if there was some way I could buy some but they said no:(

Bummer! I just drink the regular DD so didn’t notice the toasted almond. Do they sell it by the pound?

Here in LA we have more medical marijuana shops than Starbucks. And we have NO Dunkin Donuts. I would think that the proliferation of pot shops would have encouraged DD to expand here. But no.

Just wanted to say: I have never experienced bad service at the Starbucks in my neighborhood. But it’s a big company and I’m sure they have more than their share of poorly managed shops.

No they dont sell it in any way shape or form. They are made for you when ordered. I know it is just a syrup but the brand they use is not for sale to the general public. I have even asked the manager if I could buy a bottle from him but he cant sell them. It has almost become a mission to get some and my D thinks we are nuts but what the heck.lol

I like Starbucks for TEA. Caribou (big out here) has no plain old black tea. It drives me crazy and right to Starbucks…

I have found if you are a regular a nice Christmas gift gets you A+ service all year. Also in gerneral I rarely have issues with Starbucks service in other stores around the US. For a very large company with 1000’s of employees and turnover I think they do a great job overall. Great 99.9% of the time and if it is not right they are always willing to fix it.

Since I am such a loser lol! And someone who misses DD ALOT! Found this on the Dunkin Donuts website, flavor of the summer…Toasted Almond!

[Toasted Almond & Strawberry Shortcake Coffees | Seasonal Coffees | Dunkin’ Donuts Coffee](http://www.dunkinathome.com/seasonal-coffee/?pid=google_dunkin_donuts_coffee_almond&gclid=cjhtn-_mxlecfqhn4aod3xcang)

Says you can find them in the grocery store for a limited time.

Well I’ll be darned!!! thanks deb922. By coincedence I am heading down with my D on Saturday to pick up one her friends for a weeks vacation with us so guess where I am going??? they dont say which grocery store but I will visit everyone I can until I find it or at least work up a thirst trying. I’ll let you know next week if I was succesful.

percussiondad, you can search for a store and a particular type of coffee by zip code

I found it. There is a Target right across the street from where we are meeting our D’s friend that DD says sells it. It will be worth paying customs and duty for it. I sound pretty desperate right now don’t I? Sorry

I just can’t get on board with DD coffee. It doesn’t do a thing for me. Our Starbucks is pretty good if you stay out of the ones in the grocery stores. I gave up the habit for the cost and calories but at Christmas I can’t resist the Carmel Brûlée Latte. Otherwise I’m happy at home with my creme brûlée creamer (the only sugar, real or artificial,I have all day).

percussiondad, you likely won’t have to pay any duty. I often pick up a few groceries when I go down to visit my mom for the day, always declare it and have never had to pay duty. How great that there’s a Target right where you need it!

NOt a huge fan of Starbucks, but Coffee Bean is my heaven. Their dark chocolate latte is fabulous hot or iced.

I love ‘my’ Starbucks…they know me and my boyfriend by name and order, and will occasionally comp drinks. It’s gotten so bad that when one of us goes in alone, they ask where the other is and offer to make a drink for them to go! I’m sad I’ll be moving…must build up a rapport with a new Starbucks!

On a side note, DD closed in Bloomington after like a year and a half. They couldn’t compete with the 2 on-campus Starbucks (a total of 5 in town) and several local coffee shops in a 3 block radius

Agree with thumper that SB expresso is acidic (and often burnt tasting). Have an expresso machine at home and a wonderful local coffee purveyor whose expresso is delicious. The machine has paid for itself several times over and is part of what makes mornings work around here. That said, the staff at our local SB’s is generally polite, efficient and competent.

I like Starbucks. That said, I used to like Starbucks a lot more. Ten years ago I had very few poor experiences. Now it’s a real crap shoot … one store excellent, the next staffed by aspiring models. The grocery store and B&N Starbucks are worse … “I’m sorry Sir, we don’t accept Starbucks cards.” Eww. And I’m no fan of the new bakery items. Guess I’m no longer “with it.” Sigh.

I don’t go regularly, but they have some wonderful employees at my local Starbucks who are friendly and hardworking.

MOWC:

Wow. Hands down, that has to be the funniest thing I’ve read all day.
