Who's feeling confident? Getting IN?

I started out with a fairly confident attitude…and as time passes…i see more and more stats of other ppl posted on CC and i get more and more discouraged…lol. seems like my chances had gone from 50% down to about 2%. my SATs arent crazy good, my uw gpa is a 3.9 something my weighted is 4.35 with one of the most challenging schedules at my school…ranked 3 in my class with some fair ECs…but i feel like a microbe in an ocean when i see ppl with research and model UN and things like that…chances are i get deferred then rejected…haha it’d be amazingly spiffastic if i make it. i can so totally see myself walking down to the T station and getting food at La Verde, but ultimately that’s up to the adcom to decide.

Not me. I just have mental pictures of me next to six or seven other people holding test tubes and calculators with a few medals each. And then there is just lonely old me standing off to the side next to a tumbleweed. Just guess who they pick. I figure I have A chance since I’m applying, but mine is closer to

lol…yeah, well i dont wanna sound too pessimistic, after all i feel like i must have at least a 1 or 2% chance…there are people out there that are not even qualified who are applying…so i think we’ll be ok at least for now. we’ll probably get deferred…or at least I will get deferred and then ultimately rejected in the end…but its still worth the wait becuase i least know i have another chance of getting it through with the adcoms

I would much rather be rejected now than deferred-rejected… augh, four months of torture, for nothing! The only thing worse would be deferred-waitlisted-rejected. Ooh, painful.

I was going to, but decided against it. It takes up too much time – I’ve got abstract algebra and papers to write this semester, not to mention we have to do 30-page physics labs for IB. Plus if I get into both I’ll be taking the spot of someone who wants to go to MIT more than I do, which is a bit mean…so I’m waiting until I get deferred from Caltech.

Remember that if you are deferred you can submit additional information, honors and other recommendations to help strengthen your application. Deferral allows a second chance to improve your application, something RD applicants will not have the opportunity to do.

aw, that’s so cute. that’s us in a nutshell. :)
