<p>It’s not right that the OP is looked down upon by some posters/readers when asking this question. Just because some one does not want to be around so many Asians does not mean they are racist. Shame on those who always have to pull out the race card and call people racists when people innocently bring up these questions. This is not in response to any previous posts, but to the general responses in previously related threads.</p>
<p>In response to the OP’s question… this is a trend at all highly selective universities. Peer schools like Duke, Emory, Stanford, Berkeley, Johns Hopkins, UPenn, and Cornell have greater percentage of Asians than Rice does. I find that many Asians tend to self-segregate. Luckily, this is not true for all Asians and self-segregation is more rare at Rice than at some of its peer schools.</p>
<p>It’s also a shame that Asians must say that “I’m Asian” to avoid being labeled as a racist when criticizing the fact that Asians are over-represented at many universities. It’s important to be politically correct, but not overly politically correct, as our society has become.</p>
