Why does Tufts have such a low peer assessment rating?

1st three are fine. Numbers 4 to 5 are just plain funny. I gotcha though, and would agree to the man on the street results!

well eng dude… i hear what you are saying… some of these dean’s who give the score have to be “old school”… but I think the majority keep on top of whats going on in the academic world-- they wouldn’t be doing their job if they didnt. That being said, they recognize the strengths of programs, faculties, students, etc… we hope :)

So what is a peer assesment score? Is this when Deans and Deans only from other academic institutions rate another school??? If this is true, then I agree with the other post referring to the dean in South Dakota.
I firmly believe Tufts is a great school, but, I also acknowledge that although in Tufts has a New England location, it is easily overshadowed and most others do not realize how competitive it is to get into Tufts.
So yes, if this is what the peer assesment score is then I can understand why Tufts might have a strong rating yet, slightly less than we know Tufts deserves.

Palmbeach, whoever told you Dean don’t know? Most deans have studied at a couple of universities and worked at several other universities. Furthermore, they are active professors at the university at which they serve as dean, working closely with faculties at other universities. I would say deans are very qualified to rate the education level of peer universities.

I can go on forever, but it is pretty clear that Deans aren’t clueless. They know universities ans they are in a position to rate their peer insitutions.
