Brand…were/weren’t you at UT?

No I was at a community college in Texas. I got into UT McCombs, which as we all know is better than Wharton.

haha, why didn’t you go to UT? I’m looking @ LS there. I think it was the perfect balance of academics (especially mccombs), social life, and sports.

stop trying to convert brand into your KKK lifestyle!

Because it was too close to home and not freaky enough.

P.S. - the Law School is pretty great. A family friend just graduated from there and is making around 90k a year working for a firm in Houston. As I’m looking for the big bucks, UT is my last choice/fallback. Gotta aim high! :)

Ya I’m a big fan of the bigtex market. BB, FJ, and VE (the big 3) have all raised to 160k starting in Houston, which is the same as all the other major markets. The big appeal about TX is 160k can buy you a small mansion whereas you wouldn’t be able to come close to that in LA/NY. Also, since tex market is pretty limited (UT controls it) top 25% is almost a lock for one of the big 3, with top 50% getting you market salary (160k)

Yeah definitely. Housing is very affordable down here and Houston has some badass firms. Your standard of living really will be higher here than in New York, even if you graduated from NYU/Columbia probably. Right now I’m hoping to grad from a T14 and work in Chicago as it offers a great city experience (Houston sucks, IMO ) and is about 1/3 the price of living in NYC.

Haha, I’m actually looking at Chicago as well. I’d love to work at K&E due to their huge bonuses and their dominance in the chicago market. It’ll probably depend on where I get in and everything. Judging by my gpa + LSAT practices I’ll be competitive from about duke down so schools like Duke, Northwestern, UT, Vandy, WUSTL all look like good options for both Texas and Chicago markets.

Sounds like you’ve got a good plan Good luck. Are you a sophomore or junior? When do you plan on taking the LSAT?

I’ll be a junior…planning on taking it in June of 08 but I’ve been studying for the past few months. Just finished the LRB, then onto the LGB and maybe take a class cuz LR is still not where I want it. Have you started studying for lsat yet? When you taking it?

HAHA! You’re the exact same person as me. I’m a junior takin in June 08 too and just finished the Bibles about two weeks ago. I’ve taken a couple timed tests and am scoring in the 167-169 range, so I’m glad I’ve got time to study.
