Chipotle and margaritas??!!! Get out of here!! What state is that???

I like the grilled chicken in a bowl. Fresh and tasty nearly every time. I do not care to fill-up and fatty chips. The chicken bowl with black beans and salsa is both filling and tasty. And not bad for you.

I don’t find Chipotle chips worth the calories. I save my chip eating for the local mexican places.

Margaritas? Now we’re talking, but not at any Chipotle I’ve come across.

Chipotle chips are lame, but I find the rest of their food very tasty! A little more calories than my current eating habits would allow often, but I eat a burrito bowl with rice, beans, fajita veggies, chicken, salsa, and cheese and estimate it’s 600 calories.

Not a big fan of Chipotle. I much prefer many of our authentic tacquerias. But I’d never compare Chipotle to Taco Bell, which is just hog slop as far as I’m concerned. Chipotle is miles better than that.

Chipotle’s chips are terrible, guacamole is pretty bland (but I’m pretty snooty about guacamole), and the burritos are too big. My family likes Chipotle, though. We usually ask them to hold the rice on the burritos; it’s just totally unnecessary filler and extra carbs/calories, though sometimes if they hold the rice they feel like they need to make up lost volume with extra beans & meat. Beans, meat, salsas, cheese are always fresh & tasty, and consistent in quality across locations. We use Chipotle along with Noodles & Co. and Panera when traveling for a couple of reasons. The quality & freshness of the food is several steps above standard fast food and many local greasy-spoon diners, including many authentic tacquerias. It’s quick & it’s tasty, consistently across locations. And it’s a place my vegetarian D1 can reliably get a pretty healthy vegetarian meal with a decent enough protein content from the beans and cheese. Their black beans are vegetarian. A lot of tacqueria beans are cooked with pork or refried in lard, and even if they aren’t it’s harder to know what you’re getting. As a vegetarian you always know the Chipotle black beans are OK.

I wish they would offer a baby burrito. I would go there more often. The burritos are really much too big. I cut it in half as soon as I get it is never as good re-heated.

Reheated? I like the 2nd half cold!

info on Chipoltes and margaritas - I am sure it is a mix and tequila - no salt or ice or shaking - they come in a plastic cup, but better than no margarita!

I ate at a Roti in DC and the first thing it reminded me of was Chipotle in the way you stand in and move along the line and tell them what you want in your burrito (or the med. equivalent for it) or bowl. It seems like about the same stuff as well (beef/chicken). I don’t know why it’d be any healthier for someone than Chipotle. Do you for certain that it is?

It was good though - I’d eat there again.

BTW, after checking this thread all day, I’d KILL for some Chipotle for dinner! I’ll make my own guacamole, but bring on the cilantro rice, black beans, chicken and HOT salsa!!!

Chipotle’s food is okay, it is what I would call a premium end fast food place. They are a bit more expensive, but they also give you a lot for that (annoying if you don’t want that much and have to pay the premium price). It is tasty and filling, though it is still kind of factory style compared to a neighborhood taco place. The other thing they are doing is trying to use better quality ingredients, I believe their meat is organic (or at least doesn’t have antibiotics) and they try to use local sourced food I believe. It is interesting, because I believe they are owned by McDonald’s, not exactly known for environmental or health conciosness…

Taco Bell has to be one of the most gross places anyone could call a restaurant, it is cheap because it uses low quality products and mass produces it, and even looking at their commercials isn’t appetizing. It looks like plastic and tastes like it IMO.

In terms of the discussion on farmed shrimp and such, what people are writing about is the reality. Fish farming holds images of a sustainable harvest, of being able to raise seafood and fish without decimating natural populations and the like, and sadly, it is the opposite. Farmed fish, especially salmon, creates unhealthy populations among the farmed fish and because of the way they are fed, often lack nutrients real salmon would have, and to save money they often feed them things like bone meal I have heard (from livestock). More importantly, the enclosures they use end up polluted and breeding grounds for certain diseases, that can end up migrating out of the pens and into the natural population. A lot of the frozen shrimp and shellfish you get is farmed raised in Asia, and there are basically no standards for it, so you don’t know what you are getting to be honest (the FDA doesn’t have the staff or authority to regulate it). I won’t buy shrimp if it is farmed, especially if it is imported, I stopped buying those shrimp rings years ago when I found out how they are created and likewise I won’t buy farmed fish for the same reason.

There probably are ways to farm shellfish and seafood in a sustainable, safe way, but what it seems to be these days is a way to raise as much seafood and fish as fast as possible and cutting corners and unsafe practices seem to be the name of the game (more like the meatpacking plants of “The Jungle” rather then as a way to protect natural populations)

They used to be largely (not 100%) owned by McDonalds years ago but not anymore - McDonalds divested itself of it 5 years ago.

For those complaining about portion size just get one individual soft taco. Its two bucks and usually will fill you up for a light lunch. Jump off the burrito train and onto the taco one and youll be surprised at the price and portion value. Tastes the same or better IMO.

From the [Chipotle website](http://www.chipotle.com/en-US/fan-antics/boorito/boorito.aspx):

I can hardly wait to see what they do with Asian food!

Rumors are that they are going to open a new division, Lemongrass Asian Grill Inc. (LAG), that will be serving Asian food.

Just kidding!
