Why is my son getting a gun permit ?

Well, a big issue to me is that I don’t want guns in my house. I don’t have an open house policy for gun totin’ folks, and that includes my kids. Exceptions would include occupations where the guns are required and truly unusual circumstances, but just wanting to be a dude packing heat isn’t going to cut it with me.

<p>My son has been talking about it as well. He will be 21 in September. I’m not thrilled with the idea but I can’t do much to stop it.</p>

<p>Wow, this thread has sure brought out a lot of different perspectives. I guess I’m glad our kids have not been interested in possessing any guns to date (tho S has argued that “guns don’t kill people, people do” in grade school). S DOES like skeleton knives though–I think it’s because they are beautiful as well as strong and functional–heck I admire them too! To me, they are useful metal sculpture. :)</p>
