It is a financial burden… those uniforms cost a total of around $700 for the 4 sets w/ the boots… and then comes the issue having the rank, name tapes, and warfare qualifications sewn on. And the coveralls in most commands are replaced by these digi cammies, but it’s ultimately up to the command’s discretion.

BUT, I did not know that those uniforms are going to be used by officers too. Good stuff.

On a lighter side, you have to understand that they are more beneficial overall, at least to the un-designated enlisted side. The “Prison” uniforms we have now outright suck, and on board a ship, the slightest sight of paint or dirt makes that uniform unserviceable. With these cammies, most of the paint and dirt becomes part of the uniform and allows the paint-chippers to do their job without breaking the bank, in the long run anyway.

I wear Marine digi uniforms at my command… and I personally love them. These new Navy one’s are pretty much the same, and just as comfortable.
